Preventive Health & Root-Cause Medicine

April Young Living Gifts

Liz James · April 1, 2024 ·

It’s April 1st and I bet there are no fools here!😍 We are each here because we have quit fooling around with our health and are striving to do better so we can live our best lives! 👊🙌💖
Young Living helps us do that with every single product….. there is a purpose beyond creating a pleasant aroma (tho that’s a benefit!), and each product you get in the mail is an opportunity to ditch a toxin and replace it with something that is not only non-toxic… it’s beneficial to the body in multiple ways.
Disease and “common body dysfunctions” that typically result in being tied to the medical system are 90%+ the result of a combination of toxicity and nutritional deficiencies. The good news is that this means we have 90%+ CONTROL of what we put into our bodies. Powerful right?
I’d be here all day typing if I explained the multiple ways I use each one of the freebies I’ll be looking forward to receiving in my order this month, so I’m just going to tell you two ways for each of them (and encourage you to do your own digging to find more. Pubmed.gov is a great resource for actual science if you’re a “just the facts ma’am” kind of 🤓)
Lemon 🍋 is an “every person’s” essential oil! Of course, it smells amazing and is a “happy” oil. Literally. (check out this study https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22364736/ … a pubmed find which is also linked in the “Discover the Research” button at the bottom of the lemon page on the Young Living website). I also use lemon essential oil in my water to help support detoxification pathways in my body. The two different labels (Lemon vs Lemon Vitality) are a requirement by the FDA… it’s the same oil in each of the bottles.
Pine 🌲is another oil I have used daily since 2020 (read between the lines here 😉). I choose to be proactive instead of reactive when it comes to staying well, and in 2020 I learned from Dr. HK Lin that Pine helps do that (he explained to me why, and I was like 🤓🤯🙌). Since that time, I have made a roller bottle with Thieves, Lemon, Pine, and Geranium and applied it to the bottoms of my feet every morning and evening. I was already doing the Thieves daily, but the lemon, pine, and geranium were suggested as important pieces to addressing the new piece of the health puzzle we all now navigate. Bonus points….. tree oils are so grounding, and who doesn’t need help grounding?
Thieves Household Cleaner. Yeah, there ARE ways I can clean in a non-toxic fashion….. baking soda, vinegar, and lemon juice can do quite a lot. So what makes Thieves HHC my “go-to” for 99% of my cleaning needs?
It’s not only a nontoxic alternative, it supports my (and yours too!) immune system while you clean 🫁🙌💖.
It’s 100% safe all the way down to using to wash pets (yes, cats too, and cow udders in my case) and bonus points that fleas don’t do well with THHC. (plus it smells amazing!)
Purification is a “welcome to Spring and here’s all the biting/stinging bugs” oil to keep handy. I’ve found it does a stellar job of neutralizing the bite/sting. It’s also fantastic for neutralizing stinky odors (ahem…. stinky gym shoes/bag). Just put a few drops on a cotton ball and place it in those spots things need to smell fresh instead of 🥴🫠icky.
Thieves was my “gateway” oil that brought me to Young Living! (What was yours???) Roller bottle. Bottom of feet. Daily. (see above….. That Thieves, Pine, Lemon, Geranium recipe I used…. Geranium was free a few months ago… so you might already have that on hand). I’m over here doing the happy dance 💃🕺because I’m getting about 6 months of Immunity Support Roller Bottle oils for FREE just for ordering things I already order! (I also use it in a variety of other ways and reasons….. a must-have for my tool kit!)
Tea Tree is probably one of the most well-known “for your health” oils. I’d encourage you to hop on to the Young Living website and once again check out the “Discover the Research” button at the bottom of the Tea Tree info page. 3 great studies there! How do I use Tea Tree? The “world famous” all-purpose nasal spray recipe has just 4 oil ingredients and Tea Tree is one of them (just a couple of drops). Potent stuff…. and also effective! It’s also my “go-to” for dabbing on the occasional blemish to speed up its going away.
Getting items like these for free every month is so helpful.
1. I get to restock what I use regularly for free.
2. If I’m not familiar with an oil or product, I get to learn and experiment with it for free. Learning and gaining confidence in how and what to use can be priceless education. Get good at the little things so you can be confident in using them for the “big things” (ask me how I know. I’ve managed to avoid lots of trips to the doctor over the last 11 years).
Have a great day friends! What’s the best April Fool’s gag you’ve ever been a part of (on the giving or receiving end)?
xoxo~ liz

Keep Your Pets Safe

Liz James · March 21, 2024 ·

Raise your hand 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️if you share your home with a critter or two (or roughly 55 in our case 🤗🥰). According to statistics, 66% of us do….. and we love ’em. Pet families spend over $19 BILLION dollars a year in the USA on veterinary care (not including supplements, food, collars, etc). 😳
March is Pet Poison Prevention Month and while we’re talking about spring cleaning, I thought it would be a good idea to talk about pets. Yes, they need cleaning themselves on occasion, but equally important….. it’s our job, as the ones who keep them well and healthy….to keep toxins out of their space as much as is “humanly” possible.
According to the American Animal Hospital Association and the ASPCA, these are some of the biggest chemical culprits for bringing harm to animals 👇.
🛑medications
🛑cleaning products
🛑 personal care products
🛑fragrance products
🛑 detergent and detergent “pods”
There are more (take a look at the graphic), but I bring these up to give you a 🙌🙌🙌 for probably already having fixed these issues in your own home and keeping your fur babies safer in the process. Go you!
Animals are often “the canary in the coalmine”. Evidence of toxin overload often affects them on a scale greater than in humans.
Take Georgie for instance. Georgie is our now adult opossum we rescued when she was just an itty bitty thing (her mama had died). Because she was so imprinted on us (she came to be with us before her eyes were open), she was not releasable, and she lives with us as though she is a house cat. Opossums do not live long. A geriatric opossum is over 2 years old. Georgie is over 2 years old now, and doing quite well. The reason opossums do not live long (in addition to getting hit by cars😢) is that they are super sensitive to chemicals…. even more so than cats. Georgie eats all organic human-grade food (I shop at Trader Joe’s and Local Yocal for her🤪), and has had almost zero exposure to chemicals of any kind. The same can be said for our cats🐱, our dogs🐶, our dairy cows🐮, horses🐴, and chickens🐔. Their toxin load is extremely low.
❤️If you happen to still be using traditional toxic cleaners, give Thieves Household Cleaner a try!
❤️mainstream personal care products? Young Living has a treasure chest of healthy alternatives!
❤️plug-ins or other fake fragrances? Get that diffuser out and use it! Young Living oils are safe for use around all types of animals. We even use oils to help them recover from wounds and illnesses, and rarely do we spend $$$$$$ at the vet anymore. We have saved thousands of dollars over the years by using resources like “The Animal Desk Reference” to solve animal health concerns. Remember that 19BILLION dollars a year the USA spends on veterinary care? So thankful Charlie and I contribute minimally to that number every year!
❤️ Detergents and “pods”? Thieves Laundry Soap is an excellent alternative (it’s concentrated so either don’t use but just a little bit, or use one of the recipes on H3 to make your own out of non-toxic ingredients).
Cleaning up your home without adding toxins to your pet’s life only makes sense (and it saves money in so many ways). They are worth it!
What’s one thing you have replaced that might have been shortening your pet’s lifespan by continual “small dose” exposure?
xoxo~ liz
If you are new to the concept of detoxing your home, here’s a list to get yourself started, and let’s chat…. I’m here to help you lower your toxin load too! https://bit.ly/ThievesHouseholdCleaningBundle

Relax Your Jaw, Loosen Pelvic Floor

Liz James · March 10, 2024 ·

As the song🎶 says, it’s not just about the “knee bone connected to the thigh bone”. Fascia, muscles, and ligaments matter too (as do organs and yes, even emotions stored in certain parts of the body).
Did you know that grinding your teeth (also gritting) could have a profound impact on pelvic floor health?
My gal Miranda knows her stuff!

Clean Your Liver

Liz James · March 6, 2024 ·

There’s doing “a thing” and then there’s a lifestyle😉.
Have you ever cleaned and organized your house, organized a junk drawer or closet, only to find it completely unorganized and overflowing (AGAIN 🥴!) …..in a matter of weeks? It feels very defeating, doesn’t it?
What if you cleaned and decluttered your house, but instead just moved all the debris, junk, and extra stuff in your bedroom instead of giving it to Goodwill or sending it to the trash heap?
…. or put it all in your bathtub and shower?
….. or put it all in the kitchen?
You get the point here by now I’m sure.
Cleanses for the body are no different. If you aren’t eliminating the junk and debris (kicking it to the curb), it’s just being relocated within the, and that can cause unpleasant issues.
No cleanse should be attempted until your detox pathways are ready to receive new junk, and the liver (especially the liver!) feels loved and supported. The liver does about 500 things for us (no joke!), so if it’s not able to function properly, you can imagine the trickle-down effect elsewhere in the body.
Detoxzyme was a YL freebie last month and this is a great time to put it to good use. In addition to helping us better digest foods we eat, it also helps in opening the gallbladder duct and cleansing the liver…. bonus points for creating an inhospitable environment for candida, yeast, and parasites. (As we clean house, we don’t want to be encouraging messing it all up again…. right? )
JuvaTone probably isn’t on your daily favorite list. Lovin’ on the liver often gets overlooked (kinda like how often do you do a deep cleaning of the inside of your icky garbage can? 🤢). Juvatone supports healthy liver function, and it also helps with the elimination of that which needs kicking to the curb.
Clues your Liver might need some lovin’ especially if you are thinking about a cleanse in your future:
🛑poop that is a weird color (lighter or darker than normal)
🛑Constipation: if you aren’t having at least one bowel movement a day, you can most assuredly assume your liver is stressed. Start here! ….. get your bowels moving friend. I have LOTS of information in previous posts on how to improve bowel performance.
🛑rashes, acne, and other skin conditions
🛑heartburn/reflux
🛑physical or mental fatigue
🛑headaches
🛑digestive disturbances
A healthy lifestyle means you have a system in place to help you both reach and keep your goals. Use your tools! I don’t ever do any sort of cleansing without first giving my liver VIP TLC beforehand.
xoxo~ liz
PS: Have you ever done a cleanse? Any sort whatsoever? If so, what kind? I’m ramping up for a full moon parasite cleanse later this month. Don’t judge me… join me. Eight out of ten of you are probably wormy too 😉.

Pelvic Floor Health Tips

Liz James · February 11, 2024 ·

My friend and colleague Miranda knows her stuff. The results of a misunderstood, mismanaged, or under-maintained pelvic floor are probably one of the most common health and wellness complaints for women (and men too!). There ARE answers out there…… and little things implemented can add up to big victories.
