Well…. this is a disappointing truth. I have to be honest, I’ve never been a huge fan of salmon until I tasted true wild caught in Washington state a few years ago. #ohmyword! Sadly, I haven’t had it since, only because….. well, when you’ve had the best…. how do you go back to mediocre?Β
Turns out, mediocre might reflect the flavor, but “toxic” is actually a more justifiable adjective. I’ll let you read the article or watch the videoΒ yourself. Here are my takeaway π€― ‘s:Β
π³ more than 1/3rd of “wild caught” salmon isn’t wild caught.
π³ the world produces more farmed (and toxic) fish than it does beef. Factory farming fish is a danger to the environment by polluting the waterways with excessive crowding , fish waste, and a toxic soup of fish food (made of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, PCB’s, and GMO’d crops pelletized into fish food).
π³ the “not wild ‘wild caught'” salmon is actually salmon that has escaped factory farming netted pens.
π³ Farmed salmon has 8x higher toxin loads than true wild caught salmon.
π³ Farmed Salmon contains far higher amounts of Omega6’s (It’s bad for the body to have a high Omega 6 vs Omega 3 ratio)
π³ When a factory farmed salmon breeds with a wild caught salmon, the babies don’t tend to survive because they are genetically not equipped.
ππ π You can find healthy Salmon by looking for the MARINE STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL (MSC) logo on the packaging. (Logo: MSC plus a blue checkmark that is in the shape of a fish)
If you are eating at a restaurant…. ask the hard questions before you order Salmon!
enjoy your weekend!Β

Farm Animals
Critter Crate Care
Dog crates are used for many things on a farm….. you just never know what kind of critter you’ll have to be either caretaking or transporting. π°πππ’π±π#truth
Birds are fairly sensitive to toxins, and I’ve used this recipe with great success both in the coop and when cleaning transport crates.Β
Note: it also works well for kitty litter boxes AND, once you have the spray mixed up (I personally just use 8 oz of water + the other ingredients), you can use it as a misting spray over your kitty litter if it is a little stinky on occasion. #poopourri

Wasp/Hornet Beast
We’ve had some really aggressive hornets attempt to take over our porch this week. (I’m pretty sure they aren’t officially Murder Hornetsπ), but act like close cousins, so I’ve named them Mayhem Hornets!π Any entomologists out there that can identify these? They are HUGE and have a nasty long stinger. They aren’t yellow jackets… too big …. any thoughts?

Wasp Treatment
It must be a bad season for stinging insects. A friend posted just a bit ago in another group about using Basil for a sting (with huge success!). I LOVE that God gave us so many quick remedies for problems such as these, and we are not limited to one solution! After you’ve used oils for awhile, you’ll have found that this is always the case. #multipurposetools
Yesterday, I got stung on the finger by a wasp. What you see in the pic was my 3 step remedy:
1. Cut an onion and rub the onion on the sting for 3-4 minutes. Do this as quickly as you can after the incident to neutralize the poison.
2. Apply YL lavender essential oil to the stung area. #notthecheapstuff
3. Put a tablespoon of baking soda in a shot glass and add a little vinegar (it will get foamy super fast, so do this over the sink). Then apply the mixture to your boo-boo stung area.
I was able to do this immediately after I got stung and had ZERO evidence of a sting 15 minutes after it happened.
Not much later, Charlie was putting hay out and he got stung 3 times. π³ He didn’t get to apply this magical trio until about 15 minutes after it happened…. it did the trick for him too. No swelling. No pain.
Easy peasy!
