Health Decisions Up to Kids???

Liz James · November 30, 2020 ·

My passion is health and wellness. Those were the classes I gravitated towards in school. My least favorite classes were probably government and political science, yet here we are in 2020, and in the last 20 years, if I’ve learned anything….. it’s this: if you become complacent, someone else will make rules and laws that benefit them and potentially harm you.
In October of this year (barely a month ago), Washington DC passed the first stage (a bill) of a law which would allow children as young as 11 years old to consent to vaccination without their parents’ consent.
The bill passed almost unanimously (12:1) :  the child’s vaccination record won’t even be sent to the parents but to the child’s school.
You can read more about it here: https://childrenshealthdefense.org/…/dc-law-would-give…/
I was shocked and angry. We don’t have any children of our own, but that hasn’t kept me from fighting for the health and wellness of children whom I love.
This travesty got me to digging. Washington DC is one place, and far away from Texas…. and also the hub of our government where laws often get passed quietly and without notice. That said, states have lawmaking capabilities too.  Has your state already enacted laws that allow children to make health decisions? (for example: check out Idaho’s law… children of any age can consent as long as they have “ordinary intelligence and awareness”…. rather broad interpretation could be applied here😬)

Lemme know what you think…. do kiddos have the where with all to make decisions such as these before they can even drive, vote, buy a gun, or serve in the military?   Politics and policy making very much affect our medical (and other) freedoms and it’s important that we engage in preserving our rights, especially in a time when “mandatory” seems to be a trending word.

I’m not here for the politics, I’m here for our collective health and wellness, and for the future of our country’s children. Unfortunately, we cannot separate the two anymore.

For the Love of Books! And Freedom!

Liz James · November 27, 2020 ·

Up is down, right is wrong…when will it end? As an avid bibliophile📚 and believer in our Constitutional rights🇺🇸, this simultaneously breaks my heart and inflames it.
I read To Kill a Mockingbird, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Of Mice and Men, The Cay, and Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry all when I was younger. They made an impact on me… each one a little differently… but ALL of them adding to lessons in empathy and history as it related to the times they were written in. If we don’t learn from our collective history we are destined to repeat it (Winston Churchill)
I saw a picture a few months back of a school  dumpster full of books. (… I can’t even😭😭)…. they were there because of cancel culture.
And then we have this example of “digital book burning” for the opposite reason. Investigative author Abigail Shrier had a nearly impossible time getting her book (based upon nearly 200 interviews of gender dysphoria experts, parents of girls who have transitioned, and girls themselves) published, reviewed, or even on a platform to be sold to the public because its contents goes against the current social narrative (despite the truth of the contents within the pages).
I’m reading our weekly paper (Epoch Times… the BEST most accurate and reliable news source I’ve found) and found these two articles in the same issue.
We are at a tipping point in our beautiful country. We who love it and who have conservative God fearing values are also known for quietly “going along to get along”. Friends,  we will all be held accountable for our actions here on earth, but we will also be held accountable for standing silently and allowing travesty to happen on our watch.
I stand for truth and freedom and loving one another. I stand against cancel culture…… do you?

Better Pumpkin Pie

Liz James · November 25, 2020 ·

It’s pie baking day! #HappyThanksgivingEve
Here’s a recipe from my dear friend Danette Goodyear (tried, true, and DELICIOUS!!!).
Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving prep day!

Agave Pumpkin Pie
* 1 12-inch pie crust (homemade or prepared organic einkorn, spelt, etc)
* 2 cups fresh pumpkin purée or one 15-ounce can pumpkin purée
* 3 eggs, lightly beaten
* ¼ cup whole milk or heavy cream (or less almond milk)
* ½ cup YL agave nectar, YL Yacon syrup or healthy sweetener of your choice
* ½ tsp ground allspice
* ½ tsp ground clove (or 1/2 drop YL Clove Vitality oil)
* 2 tsp ground cinnamon (or 2 drops YL Cinnamon Vitality oil)
* ½ tsp ground ginger (or 1/2 drop YL Ginger Vitality oil)
* ¼ tsp ground nutmeg (or 1/2 drop YL Nutmeg Vitality oil)
* ½ tsp sea salt
* Dash of cardamom (or 1/2 drop YL Cardamom Vitality oil)
👉 Preheat the oven to 375° F.
Combine the purée with the remaining ingredients in a mixing bowl and stir until well blended. Pour into the prepared pastry and bake for 50 to 55 minutes, or until the crust is nicely-browned and the custard set. Let cool on a rack before serving. Makes one 8-inch pie (so I double this recipe for more pies!).
NOTE: I usually now do this WITHOUT the crust (grain-free!) and add an extra egg to make it more like a soufflé. Great to serve in individual ramekins. 😋👍 And I DON’T forget the whipped cream!

Salmon – A Sad Reality

Liz James · November 21, 2020 ·

Well…. this is a disappointing truth. I have to be honest, I’ve never been a huge fan of salmon until I tasted true wild caught in Washington state a few years ago. #ohmyword! Sadly, I haven’t had it since, only because….. well, when you’ve had the best…. how do you go back to mediocre?
Turns out, mediocre might reflect the flavor, but “toxic” is actually a more justifiable adjective. I’ll let you read the article or watch the video  yourself. Here are my takeaway 🤯 ‘s:
😳 more than 1/3rd of “wild caught” salmon isn’t wild caught.
😳 the world produces more farmed (and toxic) fish than it does beef. Factory farming fish is a danger to the environment by polluting the waterways with excessive crowding , fish waste, and a toxic soup of fish food (made of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, PCB’s, and GMO’d crops pelletized into fish food).
😳 the “not wild ‘wild caught'” salmon is actually salmon that has escaped factory farming netted pens.
😳 Farmed salmon has 8x higher toxin loads than true wild caught salmon.
😳 Farmed Salmon contains far higher amounts of Omega6’s (It’s bad for the body to have a high Omega 6 vs Omega 3 ratio)
😳 When a factory farmed salmon breeds with a wild caught salmon, the babies don’t tend to survive because they are genetically not equipped.
💗🐟 💗 You can find healthy Salmon by looking for the MARINE STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL (MSC) logo on the packaging. (Logo: MSC plus a blue checkmark that is in the shape of a fish)
If you are eating at a restaurant…. ask the hard questions before you order Salmon!
enjoy your weekend!
