Purity Matters in DIY Body Scrubs

Liz James · October 8, 2021 ·

I was only a little surprised to see this amazing list of DIY body scrubs on my favorite protein bar company’s blog.  Have ya’ll tried Perfect Bars? 😋They are AMAAAAAZING…. and they have a pretty impressive ingredient list (as well as being NonGMO, gluten free, and low Glycemic Index)

As always, if you want maximum benefit when doing something good for yourself (like a Perfect Bar or a DIY body scrub), choose quality ingredients.

I only use Young Living essential oils for a variety of reasons:
1. I trust Young Living and have been to 5 of their farms. Show me any company that will open up their production facility/farm to the public on nearly any given day, and you’ll have my full attention.

2. If I’m going to ask an oil to “do ” something, I’m going to darn sure make sure it’s high quality. You know that saying….. “you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear”? The same hold true with oils. You will get what you pay for. I use my oils in ways that yield remarkable results….. but only because high quality tools make all the difference.

3. Have you ever researched what it takes to keep the “active” part of an oil “active” in the distillation process? I was like … and …and😍 about 8 years ago when I  went down that rabbit hole for the first time. There is an ENORMOUS difference in what an essential oil is capable of doing if it has been grown free of harsh chemicals and fertilizers in untainted soil,  harvested at the right time of day and year, distilled at the right temperature, pressure, and time, with the right equipment (stainless steel and glass) versus something produced under dubious conditions possibly mixed with who knows what.

4. If you are 👩‍⚕️ like me, you’ll appreciate these books as a great place to start learning:
📚 Aromatherapy for Health Professionals (by Price)
📚 Clinical Aromatherapy (by Jane Buckle) – often used as a text book for aromatherapy certification for nurses.
📚 Evidence Based Essential Oil Therapy (by Johnson)
(It’s amazing how much of this information they scrub or bury on the internet. That’s what happens when something works really well for our health but doesn’t  contribute to the Medical Industrial Complex wealth. )

5. Personal Empowerment. Once the skills our great grandparents (and beyond) have been revived, there is no turning your back on the knowledge now in place. Education is my jam and I love helping others find their way.

If you’re curious, and want to know more, there is no time like the present to learn. Let’s chat.

SAD news with Hope

Liz James · September 17, 2021 ·

Conclusion: “A diet characterised by healthy plant based foods was associated with lower risk and severity of Covid-19.” (see study) https://gut.bmj.com/…/2021/09/06/gutjnl-2021-325353…
According to the USDA, nearly 1/3 of all calories consumed in the “standard American diet” is added fats and sugars. In comparison, dairy, fruits, and vegetables only contributes 15% of caloric intake. Note that that number includes dairy…… I wonder what that number would be if dairy were excluded?
38% of adults in the USA report consuming fruit less than once a day, and less than 22% report eating vegetables daily. (PS- french fries don’t count).
Houston….. we’ve found the problem.

Touchy Topic

Liz James · November 13, 2020 ·

One of the blessings of hanging out with mentors and Young Living community friends, is getting honest “been there”….done THAT anecdotal information. Those convos and personal stories have empowered me in ways that have rocked my health world. Don’t ever turn down a chance to sit in on a “story swapping” session… sit down and soak up knowledge like a sponge….. you may come away with a life changing nugget for you or someone you love. #protip

Have you ever wondered……….
*Can you use essential oils where the sun doesn’t shine? Absolutely! (caveat: I would only recommend using Young Living because of their purity… otherwise I change my answer to “all bets are off!”)
*Do you need to dilute? Absolutely!
*Do you need to do your research on which oils would benefit (and which oils should be avoided!) the nether regions? Absolutely 100% YES!
This is a DIY’er recipe to hang on to….. you just never know when you might need to make some!…. and It sounds like it might be a good idea to keep some organic cocoa butter on hand…. you just never know when you might need it!

Btw, it takes a lot of chutzpah to own a website name like that😂💖!
PS: men…. if you haven’t run for the hills and made it to the bottom of this post,  you have nether regions too 😉 . #soakandlearn

Serendipity

Liz James · September 9, 2020 ·

Serendipity is one of my most favorite things!💖…..like a little gift from God. And it’s highly underrated!
About 5 days ago, I had a  raging case of poison ivy. If you’ve ever had the poison ivy itch before, you know how bad it can be (especially when you are trying to sleep! 😭) I had put a bottle of Peppermint by my bed to use when the itching would wake me up at night (along with the rest of my nighttime oil stash).

So, in the middle of the night, I grabbed what I thought was peppermint, and rolled it all over my arm. It took me a sleepy minute to realize I had accidentally grabbed Thieves (which I use on the bottom of my feet at night for immune support)…. a little spicy, but in a good way.

Here’s the shocker tho…… it worked! 😱…. and it stopped the itching and dried up my poison ivy quicker than anything else I’ve ever tried.🙌… and only using it a couple times a day. I will definitely be adding this to my farmgirl arsenal👩‍🌾 against this common skin irritant.

What’s something that you figured out by accident (serendipity) that rocks your world now?
xoxo~ liz
