From Page to Practice: Applying Research to Support Clients with Autoimmune Conditions

Liz James · May 4, 2025 ·

One of the reasons I love hard copy books is that the information can’t be hidden or scrubbed electronically.
I’ve had this book for several years and pulled it out again recently because I have a young, (previously vibrant ) young client who has recently been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s.
When I inquired about her vaccination status (in discovery), she said she is “up to date” on her vaccines.
This means she’s likely had well over 70 vaccines already in her young life.
Hashimoto’s is one of the most common AutoImmune disorders of all, and it affects women more commonly than men (likely because it is so closely tied to our sex hormones which are much more fragile in balance than men’s testosterone).
There are over 100 different autoimmune disorders out there, and if the root causes are left unaddressed, one will lead to more. Guaranteed.
Are vaccines and drugs the only things causing autoimmune disorders? Absolutely not…. we live in a toxic soup world and if we don’t take the bull by the horns and be our own advocates we very much put ourselves and those we love at risk. This is one of the reasons cleaning up our own environments (food choices, household, personal care products, makeup etc) is so important.
The application of knowledge is power, and the application of knowledge gives us the opportunity to both prevent destruction and to heal.πŸ™

Liz James · April 15, 2025 ·

Gearing up for tomorrow night…. let me know (PM me ) if you’d like the ZOOM link!
Bonus…. get a copy of your labs and learn what to look for preemptively to avoid a diagnosisπŸ’ͺ (or discover a diagnosis you might not even be aware of that you may need to remedy πŸ™). We’ll be zeroing in on a few simple, but key lab numbers. #empowerment!

β€œWhat’s Really in That Shot? Why Informed Consent Matters in the Age of Biologics”

Liz James · March 25, 2025 ·

A question we ask on our www.blessedbyhisblood.com membership questionnaire is this:

Have you used or been given an injectable product since 2020?

There is far more to the world of pharma than just synthetically derived drugs. The new-ish (and rapidly growing) class of medications known as biologics often contains cells or products derived from various animal formsβ€”including humans.

(Side note: Did you know the vast majority of donated blood products collected in the U.S. are sold overseas to big pharma and research companies? And we wonder why they say there’s a blood shortage in local communities… πŸ™„)

More and more people are waking up to this, but the vast majority still assume that whatever is being given to them by the medical establishment is safeβ€”and that someone else has done a proper risk assessment on their behalf.

If you believe you have the right to choose what does and does not go into your body, it behooves you to understandwhat a product actually is… and what you might unintentionally be doing to your body.

We frequently get questions from mamas wondering what to do when their doctor tells them they need a RhoGAM shot. My friend Alexandra (author of the amazing book Well Considered) outlines true informed consent regarding this topicβ€”both on her website, Β Just The Inserts, and in a downloadable PDF.

Only you can decide what’s best for you.

xoxo,
Liz

Is Your Antidepressant Just a Band-Aid? Why Root Cause Healing Matters

Liz James · March 24, 2025 ·

One of the pharmacy facts I am passionate about getting people to understand is this: EVERY medication out there only addresses symptoms… not root cause. And only addressing symptoms without addressing the cause would be like continuously patching cracks in a wall without addressing the shifting cracked foundation of a house.
We are so unique. Each one of us. In mind, body, spirit, soul, emotions, experiences. Mental health medications aren’t about “fixing” the problem….. they are the patch on the crack-y wall without addressing the foundational problem (which could be something as complex as a childhood trauma, lack of community, a toxicity, or something as seemingly simple as a nutrient deficiency).
To be clear, in my opinion, most mental health drugs should be listed as a type of drug very similar to drugs with addictive potential. No, your body will not ever “crave” Prozac, Lexapro or anything else in the SSRI or other psych med categories, but once you’ve been on them for a period of time, it can be incredibly hard to get off of them because your body and brain become rewired to depend on the medication. It then takes a fierce desire to correct that dependency, and that fierce desire includes working on oneself in all the areas ….mind, body, and spirit.
SSRI’s are by far the most common class of mental health meds. Roughly 1 in 6 people in the USA take them not knowing or understanding the ramifications of taking them long term. Informed Consent is so very important (and required by law, but rarely enforced πŸ™„ even if something goes really wrong… part of our broken medical system). How often does a doctor tell their patients what I just said above? πŸ‘† How often does a doctor explain that what they’d like to do, with the patient’s cooperation, is to give them an opportunity to get to the root cause of mental health issues (with help from avenues of mind, body, and spirit professionals), perhaps agreeing to use medication on the short term to get over a hump but with the understanding that the medication would be used as a short term tool to be used while discovering the root cause and then healing from the traumas, toxicities, and/or deficiencies the body is experiencing. (I have much much more to say about this, but I would be writing a novel).
I have so much compassion for people walking through mental health crises, coupled with a desire to see people truly healed and walking in freedom….. and that won’t happen with long term use of these meds. In fact, over time, studies have repeatedly shown that one med will translate to multiple medications because of the side effect profiles.
You are worth doing the behind the scenes work. We all are πŸ’–.

(Please read this article written by a medical doctor for a better understanding. I don’t encourage anyone to cold turkey stop their medications, or to do so without the help of their preferred medical professional)

What I Have Learned in Working With 300+ People in Their Journey of Tapering

March Madness: Floods, Flights, and Fighting for Truth

Liz James · March 15, 2025 ·

My Spring schedule is definitely on “in like a lion status”πŸ¦πŸ˜‚πŸŒ¬. In the last 20 days, my office was massively flooded by a broken fire sprinkler system pipe (its a mess, over 100K in damages/cleanup, but i am so grateful for the amazing people/companies who have been helpingπŸ™πŸ™), I traveled thru 5 states, taught saw and enjoyed the company of a beautiful farming community in Ohio (still need to post pictures on that trip), came home, changed suitcases, ran to Austin to speak as invited testimony in a Senate hearing regarding SB125 which will protect and preserve the right to directed donor blood (THANK YOU Senator Bob Hall for your fierce protection of your bill!!β€οΈπŸ«ΆπŸ™Œ, and to Senator Angela Paxton for co sponsoring it!), met with about 15 other Representatives and Senators later in the day, secured two House Bill sponsors (God bless you Reps Olcott and ShofnerπŸ™ŒπŸ™πŸ™Œβ€οΈπŸ™Œ), drove home (well, actually, I didn’t drive…. my most precious prayer warrior friend Robin volunteered to help in any way she could, and driving was just one of the many things she did to help❀️), got home about midnight, had a 7am ZOOM call with about 30 Legislators from all over the USA who are interested in creating Legislation like Senator Hall’s Bill, submitted an invited testimony on behalf of a Bill modeled after Senator Hall’s Bill in Rhode Island, had 3 Good Medicine client appts yesterday afternoon, and then went to bed.πŸ₯±.
All this to say….. I apologize if I have not returned a call or been slow to respond to emails for the last few weeks. 😬
Have a beautiful Friday!
I’m off to represent www.blessedbyhisblood.com at the National Health Federation conference this weekend. Thankfully, it’s in Dallas, so I don’t have to pack a suitcase😜…. I’m commuting (would much rather sleep in my own bed with my hubby and cats❀️! )
(Those of you who know me well know that I’m an introvert and our farm is my happy place. God is stretching and growing me in ways I would have never imagined. My Bible verses [Psalm 119] today were interesting, especially in light of His call to protect the blood on a legislative level, and to bring light to the broken blood donation industry….. it’s not actually broken…. it’s profit centered as opposed to being patient care centered. Happy to talk to anyone who wants to learn more about what I’m doing and whyπŸ™πŸ©ΈπŸ™. Not my will, but His. )
