Purity Matters in DIY Body Scrubs

Liz James · October 8, 2021 ·

I was only a little surprised to see this amazing list of DIY body scrubs on my favorite protein bar company’s blog.  Have ya’ll tried Perfect Bars? 😋They are AMAAAAAZING…. and they have a pretty impressive ingredient list (as well as being NonGMO, gluten free, and low Glycemic Index)

As always, if you want maximum benefit when doing something good for yourself (like a Perfect Bar or a DIY body scrub), choose quality ingredients.

I only use Young Living essential oils for a variety of reasons:
1. I trust Young Living and have been to 5 of their farms. Show me any company that will open up their production facility/farm to the public on nearly any given day, and you’ll have my full attention.

2. If I’m going to ask an oil to “do ” something, I’m going to darn sure make sure it’s high quality. You know that saying….. “you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear”? The same hold true with oils. You will get what you pay for. I use my oils in ways that yield remarkable results….. but only because high quality tools make all the difference.

3. Have you ever researched what it takes to keep the “active” part of an oil “active” in the distillation process? I was like … and …and😍 about 8 years ago when I  went down that rabbit hole for the first time. There is an ENORMOUS difference in what an essential oil is capable of doing if it has been grown free of harsh chemicals and fertilizers in untainted soil,  harvested at the right time of day and year, distilled at the right temperature, pressure, and time, with the right equipment (stainless steel and glass) versus something produced under dubious conditions possibly mixed with who knows what.

4. If you are 👩‍⚕️ like me, you’ll appreciate these books as a great place to start learning:
📚 Aromatherapy for Health Professionals (by Price)
📚 Clinical Aromatherapy (by Jane Buckle) – often used as a text book for aromatherapy certification for nurses.
📚 Evidence Based Essential Oil Therapy (by Johnson)
(It’s amazing how much of this information they scrub or bury on the internet. That’s what happens when something works really well for our health but doesn’t  contribute to the Medical Industrial Complex wealth. )

5. Personal Empowerment. Once the skills our great grandparents (and beyond) have been revived, there is no turning your back on the knowledge now in place. Education is my jam and I love helping others find their way.

If you’re curious, and want to know more, there is no time like the present to learn. Let’s chat.

Raindrop Training

Liz James · September 15, 2021 ·

This last week has been a blur of education for me. Raise your hand🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️🙋 if you’ve ever been to a Young Living Farm… and which one(s) you’ve been to!  We have 3 in the USA (in Utah, and 2 in Idaho) and many more all over the world. I’ve been to 5 so far and dream of someday making it to every single one of them!

This was a special trip for many reasons. We were able to stay on the farms in one of the cabins (a very sweet and memorable experience). We were there for raindrop training….. “What is Raindrop ?” …. so glad you asked!

Imagine a farmer preparing the soil for a crop of goodness…… All that is done for the soil to make it ready for healthy abundant plants. That’s…. in a nutshell…. a metaphor for the Raindrop. Think of it as clean healthy fertilizer for the immune system (and so much more!😍).

I have undervalued this Very Important Tool, and I suspect that you may have too. But no more…. now that I know! We have the tools friends….. we only need to know how to use them!

xoxo~ liz
PS…. I failed to mention that over half the people in attendance were health care professionals. Yep folks….. Western medicine peeps are slowly waking up to the benefits our oils have to offer!🙌🙌🙌

Focus, Memory, and Learning Boost-Rosemary

Liz James · August 8, 2021 ·

Do you use a particular aroma to help you focus, memorize, or learn? My favorites to help me in the office are Cedarwood, Rosemary, Lemon, Brain Power, and Clarity.
“There’s rosemary, that’s for remembrance.” ~ Hamlet (act 4, scene 5)
Tho all of these smell amazing, it’s not only about creating a pleasant work environment. According to this interesting study, the constituent of 1,8-cineole is an effect brain tool for increased performance.
This is 5 minute video, and it’s packed with some interesting facts. Here are a few tidbits:
🌿 EEG (brain function) assessed in 40 adults given 3 minutes of rosemary aromatherapy resulted in “decreased frontal alpha and beta power, suggesting increased alertness. “
🌿 Lowered cortisol levels occurred (stress hormone) when exposed to rosemary aromatherapy.
🌿 “….. compounds absorbed from rosemary aromatherapy affect cognition and subjective state independently through different neurochemical pathways.”
🌿Rosemary, of course, is an age old kitchen herb. A study focused on older adults (>75yrs old) who were given varying degrees of dried rosemary in food. Speed of memory was measured… the lowest “dose” of dried rosemary in food had significant improvement on speed of memory…. a little bit will do ya!
Do you have a favorite memory or brain supportive oil?

Food Quality Matters for Obesity

Liz James · August 4, 2021 ·

My wise friend…. she knows her stuff.
One of my mottos is this… You can pay the farmer or you can pay the pharmacist. You’ll end up happier and healthier paying the farmer every time.  Promise!!

Melissa Heeran writes:
How many people believe that gaining weight is the result of eating too much and not exercising enough?!
What if I told you that some studies show obesity has a lot more to do with the quality of your foods, than the quantity of the foods you eat and the amount you exercise?
I recently attended a lecture focusing on the study of obesity in relation to poverty. It was shown that people who face poverty are more likely to be overweight and obese. Isn’t that backwards?
The observers looked at an affluent Indian tribe who were healthy and lean during the prime of their affluent lives when they were growing food and hunting, and followed up 30 years later when they had been pushed off their land, so that farming and hunting was scarce. It was observed that during these times of famine their entire dietary lifestyle shifted to one loaded with carbohydrates.
The diet full of carbohydrates created hormone imbalance which led to insulin resistance.
Insulin is the mechanism by which fat is transformed into usable energy.
High insulin levels accumulate fat.
High Glycemic Index carbs like sugars, breads, pasta, cereal, white rice are the driving force of insulin resistance and obesity.
Filling your plate with more vegetables, fruits, lean protein and healthy fats may help to balance hormones and insulin levels, to reduce the likelihood of insulin resistance.
Quality wins, every time. 💯
