Cancer

Childhood Cancer

Liz James · September 3, 2020 ·

My friend Jen Weir…. she’s walked this path and is as passionate in sharing truth and knowledge as I am. (Perhaps this is why we get along so well!)
Please…. instill logic into the 2020 equation.
I am reminded of the passages in the Bible…. a splinter versus a plank in one’s eye.
Childhood cancer is the plank being overlooked while the splinter that is the ‘rona is getting all the attention.
Why is that, I wonder?  (that’s a rhetorical question of course… I know the answer. Do you? )

Jen Weir:
I’ve gotten quite a number of folks irritated about my response on the whole not crisis virus.
Don’t get me wrong.
People get it.
People die.
Turns out, folks die everyday. The scriptures say “it’s appointed once for man to die”.
One of my  m a i n  reasons for giving frequent eye rolls is this stat right here.
Childhood cancer. The actual pandemic…
See, exactly 10 years ago my son was diagnosed with an extremely rare cancer for children to get.
What wasn’t rare was that kids get cancer.
Often.
Far too often.
We learned that because of lies doctors told us when he was a baby, v@x your child, use toxic soaps and lotions, be sure to slather him with sunscreen, etc, that all of these factors contributed to his body creating the cancer.
Never did they recommend diet change.
Never did they recommend remove horrific toxic substances from the home- cleaners, candles, boxed foods…
So you’ll excuse me if I don’t buy into the pandemic BS, when such a tiny percentage of adults are truly struggling. Let alone the negligible amount of  kids suffering under a bland virus.
Meanwhile, today- 43 kids will be told they have cancer.
Meanwhile, childhood cancer is the leading cause of death for kids under 20.
There is a much bigger epidemic happening, childhood cancer.
But perhaps you don’t care because childhood cancer hasn’t happened to your kid.
Is that it?
Does something have to affect us personally for us to actually care?
Or , **gasp** do something about it?

Switzerland Questions

What does Switzerland know that we don’t? Use this time “alone but together” to become educated.

Chicken Pox – part 1

Liz James · May 1, 2020 ·

Does it feel like the polarization of any topic these days is the predominate way the world views things? 🙋‍♀️

We’re labeled either far left or far right, conservative or liberal, it seems that black or white in our ways of thinking is all that’s being aired……. The gray areas that require critical thinking skills…. gray matter – if you will…. are remarkably in short supply.

*Viruses (plural) are pandemic… not just this particular one at hand. What in the world ?!?!

Well….pandemic, by definition, means a prevalence over a whole country or the world…. ever-lovin-where.

*They (viruses) are part of the world that we live in, and “they” outnumber our cells by perhaps 20 to 1….. or more. (the jury’s still out on exactly how many “they” are!)

Don’t panic friends…… many (if not most) come in peace and are not detrimental to human health. In fact, some of them actually protect us from bigger dangers later down the road.

How many of you had chickenpox? 🙋‍♀️ #metoo

If you are my age (50’s -ish) you’ll likely remember the chickenpox parties that were popular back in the day. I dug around a little and found this little 5 minute gem from back in the early 80’s… regarding the perils of chickenpox.

https://youtu.be/ZNEMPU4txc0
(Full House Season 1 Episode 15).

Chickenpox ( aka varicella-zoster) was once part of nearly everyone’s childhood experience and almost a rite of passage. Nearly every child under the age of 15 contracted this virus and experienced a generally mild illness, with full recovery in 5-10 days, and gained natural immunity for life. I “might” have a scar or two where I scratched a little too hard,… but I’ve had so many boo boo’s since then they are not distinguishable from life’s everyday battles out here on the farm. #ascarisatattowithastory

Long term side effects? …… I cannot recall any of my childhood friends having any long term repercussions, and I grew up in a town where we pretty much knew everyone (or knew of them).

*Twenty years ago, the CDC estimated that chickenpox was responsible for an average of 90 deaths per year, with 28% of those deaths in persons with preexisting conditions.

That’s 90 deaths / 282.2 million (the population in the year 2000) = a chance of 0.00003% of dying from chickenpox.

For point of reference, the odds of:

⚡️Getting struck by lightning in a lifetime is 1 in 3000 (according to National Geographic )

Being diagnosed with a brain tumor is 1 in 164. (with 14.9% of those being gliomas)

💔 Having coronary heart disease (the most common type of heart disease) is 1 in 18.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I would like to do all the responsible things that I can do to avoid and improve my chances of none of the above three happening to this girl.

Remember that convo we were having about chickenpox ( I hope you watched that absurdly eye rolling 5 minute sitcom clip I posted above). Yes, I know…. that’s 5 minutes of your life you’ll never get back…. but it did bring back personal memories for me of the mild illness I experienced accompanied by the intense need to scratch!

Well….. chickenpox is one of those viruses whose bark is worse than its bite 99.99997% of the time. In fact, as it turns out…. the bite (or blister in this case) is actually beneficial! 🙌

*A study published back in 2007 (in a Journal excitingly called Atherosclerosis) concluded that the chickenpox virus (and interestingly, other common childhood contagious diseases too) not only have PROTECTIVE effects against acute coronary events later in life, but also that the risk of coronary heart disease “decreased significantly with each infection resulting from the common childhood diseases.” WOW.

Here’s a link to the quick abstract of that study 👇 :

atherosclerosis – journal article

* Another study in 2016 titled “The History of chickenpox in glioma risk” published in a journal called Cancer Medicine found that………

“ …. a positive history of chickenpox was associated with a 21% lower glioma risk, adjusting for age and sex. The protective effect of chickenpox was stronger for high‐grade glioma, particularly among those under age 40.”

Link to study 👇:

ncbi.nim.nih.gov article

I think I’ll wear my piddly pox scars with a badge of pride knowing that I’ve got a little extra protection under my skin.

We should always strive for a healthy, top notch immune system, but perhaps God and mama nature knew what they were doing when it came to equipping us in #alltheways.

But, but, but, …. Doesn’t the chickenpox (varicella) vaccine keep us from getting shingles later on in life?

You’d think so.

To be continued. Stay tuned for Part II!

#2 Corona Virus 101

Liz James · March 11, 2020 ·

Post #2 Corona Virus 101…. The Facts… let’s unpack them, shall we?

👉Fact #1:
NOTHING is secure about the statistics being presented…. NOTHING.
Current stats as of Friday 3/6/2020…….
101,714 confirmed cases and 3,461 deaths from the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak as of March 06, 2020, 18:05 GMT….. remembering that this doesn’t even include mild cases that haven’t been tested or were tested with a false negative. If the rational person were to factor in the false negatives AND the mild cases that aren’t even tested at all…… the conservative estimate of deaths vs illness would be <0.1%, with most of those deaths having primary serious health issues already. (more on this in a later post).

👉 Fact #2: Corona Virus….. A cousin of the common cold virus with a ground zero in Wuhan China….. although strong evidence suggests that contrary to popular news coverage, this particular virus likely originated in a high security lab at the University of North Carolina several years ago. As is common practice, scientists from another part of the world (Wuhan, China in this case) bought into the research, and took some of the findings back home with them. #thingsthatmakeyougohmmmmmm
Additionally, this particular virus has, within its DNA, the written chimera (ie: a grafting) of an RNA snip of one of the HIV retroviruses…. something that is impossible to achieve in nature. Again,….. #thingsthatmakeyougohmmmmmm
This does NOT mean someone can get HIV from this virus… (so don’t go there mentally), but it does indicate manmade tampering and a “gain in functionality” which means the virus transmits more easily than the traditional common cold virus.

FOLLOW THE MONEY: This is a multibillion dollar business (if not trillion)…. Approximately 20 companies are vying for the right to make a vaccine….. whomever “wins” will make billions of $$$

👉Fact #3: Don’t compare to 1918 spanish flu or any other historical plague like event…. They were all Pre antibiotics, pre- better hospital care and most importantly…. before we had better hygiene practices.

👉Fact #4 251,000 deaths per year due to errors in medical care, 3rd only to heart disease and cancer…. WHY are we not talking more about THESE things? THIS topic should warrant pandemic alarm…. and all we hear are 🦗🦗🦗🦗🦗.

👉Fact #5 National Institutes of Health’s infectious disease chief, Dr. Anthony Fauci, said, “The mortality rate (of Covid 19) looks like 2% to 3% but could be much lower if many mild cases or infections with no symptoms are going undetected.” SARS proved fatal in about 10% of cases. The flu’s mortality rate is only 0.1% btw this year.

👉 Fact #6 Pollution (external and therefore internal) and the role it plays in disease and immune support…China has among the world’s most dangerous air pollution… Ya’ll…. have you noticed that even when there isn’t a pandemic virus in China, many citizens still wear face masks?

👉Fact #7 Smokers…. China, and some of the newer harder hit countries are still heavy smokers. In China, an estimated 354 MILLION people still smoke regularly. #healthhabitsmatter

👉Fact #8 the Germ vs Host Theory
I can’t take credit for this well written piece…. but it hits a homerun in truth and it’s THE reason I implement toxin free living suggestions in my health coaching. Either you are or you are not living this way. There really isn’t much of a gray area here.
“The big difference between the two is this: If your garbage piles up in your home for weeks or years, you will invite pests, rats, cockroaches, mice, ants…all sorts of unfavorables to your home. The Germ Theory states we need to continually bring something in to kill the pests, while the host theory states, “Hey, how about we take out the garbage?”

Dr. Julian Baldor, a surgeon, in a speech before the Florida League of Human Progress, talked about Dr. Bechamp as one of the greatest scientists of all time. He said, “Dr. Bechamp proved that our bodies become hosts to a germ only after chemical and mechanical changes have damaged our system and that as long as our bodies and tissues retain a high vitality and resistance, a germ, infection or disease will not make progress. Furthermore, the disease organism will not survive after its entrance into a healthy organism. For example, we see flies on a manure pile, and other parasites also. Some of these parasites may be dangerous and capable of producing disease under favorable circumstances. If, however, we remove the pile of manure, the parasites disappear at the same time. Which do you think is the more intelligent: To fight disease by swatting flies or removing the pile of manure?”
Pasteur was better connected, more well-spoken, and wealthier than Bechamp. When it came down to it, these proved to his advantage when their two scientific papers went up against each other. Pasteur won out, paving the way for the Germ Theory to gain in popularity. Bechamp fell into disfavor and his books listed on the Index of Librorum Prohibitorum (the index of books prohibited by the Catholic Church).”

👉Fact #9 …5G – What in the world? What does faster stronger cell phone reception have to do with the virus? This topic is for another post another day…. but understand this…. regular exposure to 5G very much has MUCH to do with how easily people contract a virus or bacteria. Wuhan was one of the first countries to roll out 5G and they have over 10,000 cell phone towers in their city. The citizens of the city simply cannot get out from under that radio frequency…. that frequency affects us at a cellular level. This (in addition to the pollution/toxin load) is VERY important to keep in consideration. #unplugregularly

…..more to come friends. Stay tuned.😘

Don’t Feed the Dragon

Liz James · April 10, 2019 ·

Personal experience is often a driver of passion. If you’ve read my personal story (early on in my blog), you’ll already know that it included a very early diagnosis of endometriosis. I was diagnosed when I was a teen… way back in the ’80’s. Back then…. literally a generation ago, endometriosis wasn’t yet a common women’s health concern. It was still considered more of an anomaly…. enough so that it took some digging and even some traveling to doctors who knew how to both identify and treat it to the best of their ability at the time.

Wow! Things have certainly changed over the last 35+ years…. It is now estimated that approximately 11% of women have this chronic inflammatory disorder. It is also being held accountable for up to 1/3 of fertility disorders.  There is much debate over “how” endometriosis comes to happen in a woman’s body, but there is no debate on the fact that its destructiveness is magnified by something called ‘estrogen dominance’.

While estrogen is a valuable and necessary hormone within our female bodies…. “back in the day”, our fore’mothers’ only had to concern themselves with the estrogen their own body produced and perhaps, to a much lesser extent, something called phytoestrogens (a small select group of plants that could add estrogen to what the body already had on board).

Roughly 70 years ago, a subset of synthetic chemicals began popping up in foods, personal care products, packaging (lining of cans and plastics), medications, household cleaners (and dryer sheets!), and…… heavens!!… even disposable menstrual products (Talk about feeding the beast!). For many years, there appeared to be little cause for alarm…. until unusual goings on began showing up in the wild world of amphibians…. and male frogs began turning into female frogs inexplicably in the wild. The first people to sit up and take notice were wildlife biologists. It was the canary in the coal mine revisited (Spoiler Alert: It didn’t end well for the canary in that scenario either).

Scientists slowly began sitting up and taking notice as endocrine disruption expanded from wildlife to humans. 170+ of these chemicals are now known as “Xenoestrogens”, and they are the harbingers of hormone imbalance in both men and women. They mimic the function of natural estrogen, thus creating biological hormonal mayhem the likes of which include PMS, heavy periods, PCOS, breast cancer, fibroids, ‘man boobs’, etc….. and endometriosis. Estrogen dominance is of epidemic proportions in developed, ‘advanced’, industrialized countries: Too much of a good thing, can be…well, too much.
All that factory farm raised meat and dairy tainted with growth hormones? yep
(go local, and find your hormone free, grass fed, humanely raised animals… ie: support your local farmer and rancher)

Pesticide containing food products? yep
(eat organic whenever possible)

Tap water? yep
(drink filtered water!)

Shampoos, lotions, soaps, toothpaste, cosmetics… other personal care products containing ingredients like parabens and phenoxyethanol chemical compounds widely used with abandon by the cosmetic and pharmaceutical companies? yep
(please… for the love of your children and yourself… use natural products!)

Heating plastics or plastic wrap in the microwave, or simply storing food in soft plastic or plastic wrap? Or use bottled water or canned food that incorporates BPA into the packaging process? yep yep yep!
(use glass or stainless whenever possible. aside from the obvious landfill issues, plastic contains phthalates, a pretty nasty one on the ‘no no’ list)

See the verbiage ‘artificial color or flavor’ on a favorite packaged food ingredient list? Back away from the item. Seriously.
(Approximately 31 substances may be added to processed foods for the purpose of artificially sweetening, preserving, coloring, or enhancing texture and/or flavor and are guilty offenders)

Dryer Sheets? Totally loaded. Obscenely so.
(wool dryer balls…. message me, I’ll score you some, teach you how to make them simply, or use 1/2 cup of baking soda in your rinse cycle!)

Ahhhhh! Veering back on the bunny trail we started on. Endometriosis. I suspect you are starting to get my drift here. No wonder it’s become a common problem, right?

Endometriosis is very estrogen dependent… it doesn’t grow and thrive in an estrogen poor environment. Conversely, it can spread like bunnies on fertility drugs when exposed to bountiful amounts of estrogen regardless of the source. Common western medicine more often than not will use chemical means to suppress naturally occurring estrogen in our bodies to slow the dragon’s path. Rarely do they sit down and talk to the woman (or girl child) about the ramifications of xenoestrogen’s effects on their body and how to minimize exposure to them.

While endometriosis (or something like it) was identified in the late 1800’s, it was a rare creature…. not unlike dragons. In fact, the incidence of endometriosis in less developed countries today is significantly less than in those countries where plastic water bottle toting, microwaved plastic wrapped food noshing, dryer sheet using people live. People like myself… whom, as a kiddo and young adult did the same thing… before I knew better.

Endometriosis is technically not an autoimmune disease, but having it creates a hospitable environment for autoimmune disorders to set up housekeeping alongside it. Chronic inflammation within the body will do that. Misery loves company.

Friends, please don’t wait until something goes wrong to clean up your life. Truly. Life is too short, and it’s so much easier to minimize risk factors than it is to mediate and do damage control.

Life is short! Keep it clean ;)!

Love and hugs, Liz
