At the Wolf’s Table

Liz James · May 15, 2020 ·

๐Ÿ“š For as long as I can remember, Iโ€™ve read before bedtime. It quiets my mind. I read and research nonstop these days, but thereโ€™s a difference between reading for business and reading for pleasure (I love both!). Business reading puts my brain in high gear while pleasure reading slows it down ๐Ÿ˜ด.

๐Ÿ“–I thought Iโ€™d start sharing some of what Iโ€™ve been reading. I am a history buff so historical fiction is the genre I tend to gravitate towards. Historical fiction brings important moments to life for me in a way that I can easily remember them later. A good historical fiction writer will have done thorough research on their topic or time period and will have accurate facts and prominent figuresโ€ฆ. Filling in the blanks of the story with characters. (I am a very picky reader and often fact check my historical fiction authors! ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

๐Ÿ“– At The Wolfโ€™s Table (by Rosella Postorino) was originally written in Italian and has since been translated into English. Its protagonist is a young German bride (Rosa) whose husband goes off to fight during WWII for the Germans. She returns to live with her parents in Berlin until they are killed in air raid bombings, at which time she moves out to the country to live with her in-laws (whom she had not previously met).

๐Ÿ“– Sheโ€™s not there long before she is conscripted by the German govt to go to work as one of Hitlerโ€™s food tasters. She, along with several other German women go to Hitlerโ€™s headquarters twice a day to eat his meals before he does to ensure that what he eats has not been tainted or poisoned. Over time, friendships and alliances form between some of the women and the German guards that they spend hours each day with.

๐Ÿ“– At the Wolfโ€™s Table is such an interesting story as it is one told from the perspective of a German woman who has not entirely bought in to Hitlerโ€™s teachings largely because of what her father taught her when she was younger. She seems to be neither for nor against Hitlerโ€™s agenda as she is more mentally attuned towards grieving the loss of her parents and the absence of her new husband. Her life has been turned upside down by her own countryโ€™s actions, and for a great part of the book, it seems as tho she is drifting thru all she is experiencing. No doubt…โ€ฆ. she has been subjected to great loss and upheavalโ€ฆ. and she risks her life daily performing a job she did not want. PTSD and emotional overload? Umm yes.

๐Ÿ“– An incident finally shakes her awake when a friend turns out to be a Jew in hiding. Instead of turning her in, she awakens and starts fighting the system as best she can while still struggling to survive intact herself. It is so tragic to watch (or read in this case) how asleep the German people were. They were not bad people, but many years of subversive leadership and indoctrinating propaganda had led them to believe what they were doing was right. I wonder how long it took German citizens to wake up once they realized the truth of what had been happening under their noses on their own soil, and I wonder how many of them suffered mentally afterwards from the part they unwittingly played in the destruction of so many lives (including their own)?

๐Ÿ“š This book is based on the life of Margot Wolk, Hitlerโ€™s last living food taster who died in 2014. It was a compelling read, and one I recommend. History can so easily repeat itself, and its best that we know it well lest we find ourselves repeating it.

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘ THIS. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘

This is why I do what I do during “normal” life…….educate my extended family here, in small private groups (online and in person), and one on one for those who need personalized help.

IF we would ever be allowed to see the full and truthful data …. case by case, of those who have lost their lives to this particular virus at hand, I know in my heart of hearts, that those who died had been set up to fail.

A weakened immune system (or any other body system) rarely happens spontaneously. There are triggers.

Surely, lifestyle choices are just that…. a choice. But misleading advertising, mainstream media, sometimes questionable recommendations by world heath organizations, outright sabotage by companies in it for the almighty dollar, and even Google algorithms make it hard to decipher truths that lead to health. A lifetime of this nearly always yields an unfortunate outcome…. thru death or a decreased quality of life. I see it in the pharmacy daily.

Until a person enlists their God given critical thinking skills and begins to piece together information and develop an action plan that is beneficial for their immune system and overall health, that person is literally at the mercy of people and organizations whose motives may have more to do with profit and power than the well being of mankind.

It ends here in my tribe. #joinus!

If you’re part of my community (beyond this page), I pray you’ve been blessed beyond measure in all areas of your life. That’s my hope and vision and business model. ๐Ÿ’•

I am your scout, your tour guide, and your park ranger…. and I wouldn’t be here if I hadn’t been duped too years ago.

Faith or Fear

Liz James · April 25, 2020 ·

Yesterday was a pharmacy ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธ workday for me.

Masked and gloved…. because that’s how pharmacy rolls right now.

It’s 10 hours of opportunity to observe humanity while working, and as all recent workdays, there are exactly two kinds of people out and about…. those that are living in faith ๐Ÿ™Œ and those that are living in fear ๐Ÿ˜ฑ .

“For God hath not given us a spirit of fear: but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” ~ 2 Timothy 1:7

The two…. faith and fear … cannot coexist in the same body.

I have friends who are elderly and immunocompromised who have been operating thru this season on faith with a sound mind. They are protecting themselves, but standing strong…. shoulders back, and carrying a wink and a smile in their eyes. (These are my dear folks who should and do wear a mask).

I have other elderly friends who are 80+ years old…. strong as an ox still (most of them are farmers ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŒพ and ranchers btw) who are taking minimal precautions, and navigating life as they always have been…. with confidence, humor, and a practical mindset.

These two groups are my personal heroes….. I pray I am like them when I am 80+ and going strong. Life is short friends… and they make the most of every day. ๐Ÿ’•

Then, I see others….. of all ages….. shoulders either up around their ears or curled forward, eyes that have lost their sparkle, wearing a mask made of anything they could find. Asking how (or IF) “we” are going to survive all of this… and then go on to quote all that the mainstream media has said for the last many days. Clearly, they’re absorbing all that is being dished out.

Fear can be an idol all of its own. People don’t start out wanting to be fearful, but the mind is a powerful thing. Constant exposure to fear based media will begin to shape and program the brain until fear becomes the driving force of how someone thinks, acts, and responds. Our immune system responds accordingly to how our brain is programmed.

Fear drives the immune system downward to ultimate sickness. ๐Ÿ˜ท

Faith raises the immune system. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™Œ

Faith and fear cannot coexist. The Bible is very clear about this, and interestingly (but not surprisingly) science endorses this statement.

We will become what we think about the most, and it is terribly important to be aware of the type of information we are exposing ourselves to.

According to science, it takes 63 days to develop a pattern in the brain. And, according to the Nielsen report, United States adults watch roughly 5 hours of televison per day (or 77 days a year).

Television

“Tell you vision” .

If what your eyes see and ears hear feed a fear based mentality, I urge you to reconsider what you expose yourself to.

Additionally, if you’ve never tried the Young Living essential oil blend White Angelica, I’d encourage EVERYONE to keep a bottle on hand and apply it or diffuse it daily. Do it for a month and see if it doesn’t change your world…. especially if you spend a great deal of time around negative minded people. #youcanthankmelaterforthistip ๐Ÿ˜˜

Hugs and love friends.

Good Friday

Liz James · April 10, 2020 ·

Good Friday didn’t seem so good a few thousand years ago, but it was the beginning of something glorious for all of mankind who chose to follow Him.

No matter your circumstance, today is a day of promise and hope if you believe.
