Happy May Day friends! When I was little, we would make small baskets (usually out of those little paper single-serve milk cartons and construction paper). We’d add some Easter basket grass and then a few flowers and sweets. AND THEN, we’d go hang them on people’s doors, ring the doorbell, and run away and someone would get an anonymous gift . (Those were the simpler days, weren’t they? Nowadays, you’d probably get the police called on ya!)
Young Living gives us a “May Day” once a month with freebies. I’m always a little curious and excited about what the first day of the month gift is! This month does not disappoint!
Lavender Lip balm! I’m just sayin’….. who doesn’t need a tube of lip balm that also can fill in in a pinch as a carrier oil, a wound care tool, or even to soften cuticles (These are just a few of the ways I use mine).
Rosemary! I have loved rosemary as a gardener for decades, and I love it even more since I’ve learned its value to our brain and body health. Rosemary is a great oil for supporting “awakeness” and cognition. It’s also one of the oils that makes our immune-supportive Thieves! (pretty is as pretty does! Who knew you could get immune support AND cognitive support while you clean with Thieves Household Cleaner ).
Patchouli! I find this to be an incredibly interesting oil. Admittedly, it took me a little while to warm up to it, and now I love it! Such an interesting takeaway from a study linked on the YL website….. “Fragrance inhalation of rose oil or patchouli caused a 40% decrease in relative sympathetic activity”. [Sympathetic activity is the fight, flight or freeze response which drives cortisol up in the body]. In today’s world, we need to be misting everyone with Patchouli on the regular!
Progessence Plus! Oh.My.Word! In my 11 years with Young Living, I cannot recall this being a freebie. Men….. yes, this is a gal’s oil and you’ll thank YL profusely if you have a female emotional rollercoaster in your life. Gals…. if you feel like you ARE the rollercoaster (or if you have some interesting monthly cycles physically), this may become your new BFF. OR, if perimenopause or menopause has come into play…. this might also be a gamechanger for those moments. This serum was designed by Dr. Dan Purser (a brilliant MD who developed Prog + in collaboration with Gary Young about 15 years ago). I’ve got an FAQ document written by Dr. Purser back in 2010 I’m happy to share if you’d like to learn more about this VIP serum (please private message me).
And finally, Ylang Ylang! I literally just gifted a friend a 5ml bottle of ylang ylang to go with Aroma Life and NingXia Red another friend had given her. Why this combo? It’s fantastic over the heart for healthy blood pressure support. I’ve been to the farm in Ecuador where ylang ylang is grown and the aroma of the farm is intoxicatingly beautiful. Studies (again, check out the info on the YL website) suggest that ylang ylang relaxes the body and mind.
Which one of these are you most curious or excited about as your May gifts?
Not yet a member, but curious to learn how YL can help you in mind and body health? I’d love to visit with you and tailor a toolkit that specifically suits your needs!
