Young Living has always believed in purpose over profit, often keeping beloved but less-profitable products. However, the time has come to bid a fond farewell to some items so they can make room for new, purposeful innovations and focus on improving the products we love most!
I understand saying goodbye can be tough, especially if a product is part of your loyalty order. Product optimization is an ongoing process, so stay tuned for more updates as YL continues to refine our inventory and bring you the best nature has to offer. If you’re looking for an alternative YL product or DIY recipe for something on the list, post it in the comments below and I encourage our community to chime in with your options or what has worked for you!
I’ve attached the list of the products being sunsetted with their item numbers. Any products with remaining inventory will be added to the website shortly (many are already available!) and I will keep you updated with availability reports as I get them. Below is a list of FAQs which I encourage you to read as they do a great job of explaining this process, the need for it, and the great amount of thought that went into it:
Q. What does “item sunsetting” mean?
A. Item sunsetting means the item will not be offered again once the inventory of that item has been sold out.
Q. Why do companies choose to sunset products?
A. There are many reasons why healthy companies choose to sunset products. While cost increases and supply chain disruptions can be factors, it’s often about simplifying the experience for everyone. By sunsetting products with too many options, companies reduce administrative costs, inventory holding costs, and product complexity, making it easier for consumers to choose what to buy.
Q. Should I be concerned about the health of Young Living as a business because of the number of products on this sunsetting list?
A. Absolutely not. Young Living believes in offering products for a purpose. Having been in business for 30 years, we’re proud of each product we’ve developed throughout our history. However, managing over 16,000 finished goods item SKUs (stock-keeping units) poses challenges. It dilutes our ability to effectively market, educate, plan, and supply products to our field leaders when their Customers need them. Please note that the decision to sunset is not easy for our founders and executive team. We have developed a data-gathering and analysis process that identifies when items are experiencing a significant decrease in demand or are being overshadowed due to the multiple choices available. This helps us determine which products best serve our consumer’s unique needs. Many of you have been with Young Living for a number of years and may remember that we are dedicated to “purpose over profit.” That is still a core part of decision-making during the sunsetting process. There is no single benchmark for profitability that determines a sunset decision. Each product is looked at individually by the entire leadership team to evaluate not only profitability but also the product’s original purpose and benefits. In many cases, a product remains in our portfolio despite less-than-ideal profitability because its purpose outweighs any financial factors. This list of sunsetting products is the result of two years of data gathering and analysis. As a result, this first list may seem extensive to the field. We recognize this and are planning a structured process going forward as we continue to review our product portfolio more regularly.
Q. If one of my favorite products is on this list, can I get Young Living to reconsider?
A. Young Living’s Brand Partner and Customer base is extremely diverse, which is one of the best aspects of our community. We are proud to have millions of individuals who purchase our products on a monthly basis. Because of this diversity, it’s possible that an individual’s favorite product could eventually find its way onto our sunsetting list. Rest assured that we have been diligent in our assessment and have discussed strategies for product improvement, innovation, or modification. In the meantime, please consider our recommendations for replacements until a future product is announced.

Explanation: Our foaming hand soaps will undergo packaging changes over time. Until then, we ask that you purchase our foaming hand soaps individually. As a result, our 3-pack item SKUs will no longer be available.

Explanation: We are sunsetting the shampoo and conditioner items that demonstrate the lowest demand. However, we are pleased to continue to offer our Lavender Volume and Copaiba Vanilla duos as our ongoing shampoo and conditioner lines.

Explanation: Our Shutran® line of products will continue to be a valued brand for Young Living. However, we have determined that our Shutran Shave Cream and Shutran Aftershave Lotion do not have sufficient demand to warrant continuation.

25155: Easy Breeze™ Awakening Shower Steamers
Explanation: The high cost of production and low demand drove this sunsetting decision. Our KidScents line of remaining products will continue but will be monitored closely throughout the remainder of 2024 to assess the future of these wonderful kids’ products.

Explanation: We are excited to be working on a fun project for those who want to share our essential oils with others. Stay tuned for an announcement about this project.
Nutrition items:

Explanation: Unfortunately, we’re facing challenges in sourcing two crucial raw materials for this product. Prickly ash and licorice root are currently unavailable and may remain so for the foreseeable future. As a result, we’ve made the difficult decision to sunset this product. However, if the situation changes, rest assured that we will promptly inform our community.
27206: MegaCal™ supplement
Explanation: MegaCal has been sunsetted due to low demand. We believe that there are suitable alternatives available.
39676: Einkorn Crunch, 12 pk. (Skyrider Ranch Brand)
39679: Einkorn Crunch Singles (Skyrider Ranch Brand)
Explanation: The Einkorn Crunch Variety Pack, which contains the “original” Einkorn Crunch, has been so successful that we have decided to discontinue the 12-pack and the singles.
5750: Einkorn Rotini Pasta
5298: Gluten-Free Einkorn Pancake and Waffle Mix
Explanation: Our supply chain team is working with our farms to develop an improved process for manufacturing einkorn products. All other current einkorn products will continue, and we are excited to deliver improved offerings, along with better education, branding, and packaging.

Explanation: We have not manufactured this product for some time now, which is why the time has come to sunset it.

36246: YL Vitality Drops +Energy: Spearmint and Tangerine

Explanation: These are low-demand items that are being sunsetted at this time. You can still purchase the other flavors of our YL Vitality Drops, as well as our Orange Rose Hip Black Tea Set and Slique™ Tea.

Our Thieves Fruit & Veggie Soak continues to be a beloved product, and we encourage those who want a small-quantity version to consider using the soak as a base in your favorite spray bottle for on-the-go use.
3622: Thieves® Hand Sanitizer, 1 oz., 3 pk.
Explanation: While navigating 2020 and 2021, Young Living had to get creative when searching for vessels for our very popular Thieves Hand Sanitizer. We are discontinuing the 3-pack of 1-ounce hand sanitizers. We will continue to offer Thieves Hand Sanitizer in a single 1-ounce size for now but will assess the need going forward. Our Thieves Hand Sanitizer Refill is a very beneficial product with strong demand and will remain one of Young Living’s core products going forward.
Miscellaneous items:
4540: Aria™ Ultrasonic Glass Dome
3193: Clear Vegetable Caps
5149: Lip Balm Trio (3 pk. in box)
Explanation: We are sunsetting these items for various reasons. The demand for replacement glass domes is low and does not justify carrying the inventory created when purchase orders are issued. Similarly, demand for the clear vegetable caps doesn’t support continued procurement. While the lip balms will still be available for individual purchase, we’re sunsetting the trio because it is no longer cost-effective to produce.
Ok friends…. several of these are back in stock but also being diacontinued….. so if ya want one… this is it!
Young Living has received some diffusers from other markets. Those are being turned on now and will be for sale – only while supplies last.
UPDATE: The Mini Aria is also back! It’s not shown on the diffusers page right now, but you can find it with the item number or by searching for the word MINI.
