How Essential Oils Are Made

Liz James · August 14, 2020 ·

Have you been to a Young Living farm? If so, this will just be a refresher for you.😉 The process of extracting our pure essential oils ain’t for wussies or for those who prefer to cut corners to make extra $$ for their pockets at the expense of those who buy them.

Next time you are tempted to save a buck, know that precious few companies even come close to protecting, cultivating, harvesting, and distilling essential oils in a manner that preserves their purity and therapeutic properties. Just ask anyone whose life has been changed by YLEO”s! 💖🙏🌿💧

Goji – Hard Facts

Liz James · August 12, 2020 ·

Just a little light reading this morning after chores. I am a born skeptic and curiosity is my middle name, which is probably a couple reasons why I love science so much. And because the internet provides fishy info (and/or makes truth hard to find), I lean towards good old fashioned research and book learnin’!📚

This one is terribly interesting,  and it corroborates data and information I’ve learned elsewhere. Sadly, textbooks like these are pricey (you can see where I hoard and spend any extra money….. books!!) but they bear the truth that cannot be erased or distorted by the whims of the internet gods.

Got a question about the beautiful goji (aka wolfberry) berry? Let’er fly! Drop it in the comments, and if I can find the answer in one of my books, I’ll snap a pic for ya😘.

Location Location Location

Liz James · August 11, 2020 ·

Whether you are buying a house, or looking for quality food and produce, it will boil down to one thing….. Location location location!

Which brings me to why Young Living has gone to great lengths to have a partner farm in Ningxia China.ONE MINUTE VIDEO!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxSWyTJwzRA

The Ningxia Hui region is in northwest China near Mongolia. (It’s about the size of the state of Texas). There are approximately 1.78 Million people living in this area, and they eat (among other things) wolfberries as a daily staple of their diet.

Interestingly, the Ningxia people have almost 30 times the number of 100 year olds (centenarians) per capita as the rest of China. This is a people group that tends to live long healthy lives!👵👴

Within this region are the Ningxia people of the west elbow plateau of the Yellow River…. an area that is shielded from outside influence and cultures. #cleanandpureThe Yellow River flood plain (where our Ningxia Wolfberries are grown) is watered by melting snow from the Himalayan mountains. As the water flows downward, it gathers an incredible assortment of pure minerals and organic nutrients from the mountains.

The result is mineral rich, super fertile siltwater….. a unique growth medium found nowhere else on earth. No surprise, the Ningxia region is called “China’s herbal medicine valley”.
Because the area itself is so shielded from outside influence, there is an unusual purity of soil. Leave it to Young Living to source our products from pristine environments! 💝

So, location matters…. And the soil content matters too! Since the mid 70’s, agricultural soil world wide has been slowly depleted of its rich mineral content. Now, even organic foods are often minerally depleted because of decades long poor soil management.

Poor mineral content in soil = poor mineral content in food = mineral deficiencies in people = disease & dysfunction
#mineralrichsoilandwatermatters!

And guess what!….. We’ll never have to worry about depleted soils affecting our NingXia wolfberry products. Why?….. Because of the constant flow of nutrients and minerals from the Himalayan mountains snowmelt runoff, the wolfberry plants remain rich in nutrients!
Pretty cool, huh?

👉If you’ve never tried NingXia Red, I’d suggest starting with the two pack (item #3042).

👉 Dried organic wolfberries ( item # 6360) are also a super healthy snack:
🍓15% protein by weight
🍓Contains over 21 essential minerals (including magnesium and potassium)
🍓18 amino acids
🍓Healthy (and substantial) amounts of vitamin B1, B3, C, calcium, and beta carotene.
🍓21% fiber by weight (more than oatbran or buckwheat)

They are easily substitutable for any recipe that normally calls for raisins or dried cranberries!

Our NingXia Red is made with wolfberry puree and other antioxidant rich fruits, so we are getting a healthy liquid source of all of the above!

I hope you found all of this as fascinating as I did… I had fun learning alongside you!

You can grow wolfberries elsewhere (and lots of places do!), but they’ll never hold a nutritional candle to the wolfberry from the Yellow River flood plain in NingXia, China!

Sunshine Benefits

Liz James · July 22, 2020 ·

One of the fringe benefits of cleaning up your body (ie: ditching toxic ☠️ products) is pretty evident during the summer months. 🌞Sunburns and sun damage (tho they can still happen) usually become a less common occurrence.
Before I began cleaning up my diet, my skin care & personal care products, and our household cleaners and chemicals, it was not uncommon for me to get a decent sunburn a couple times a year. In college (years ago!), I got a few really memorable ones.😳
#thebabyoilyears #ThanksYLforallthetools
#ThievesHouseholdCleanerforthewin
Sun exposure is super beneficial on many levels, not the least of which is its role in the body’s ability to synthesize Vitamin D. We should strive for daily exposure to the sun, not hide from it! Many people fear going out in the sun because they burn so very easily, and while melanin plays a part in whether or not you are prone to sunburn, the reality is that the risk of sunburn and sun damage rises the more “polluted” the inside of your body is. I’m a blonde haired blue eyed farm girl, and have lived this fact.
There is a second part of this equation tho.
🌞In addition to ditching toxins, seek out foods that are high in antioxidants (like blueberries, wolfberries, kale, dark chocolate, beans, and pecans). These help bind up the damaging free radicals from both toxins and excess sun exposure.
I love that NingXia Red is loaded with both wolfberries and blueberries! It is a daily staple in our home.
🌞You’ll also want to eat foods high in lycopene. Lycopene is an antioxidant AND it also absorbs both UVA and UVB radiation. Reach for watermelon, tomatoes, red bell peppers, asparagus, red cabbage, and mangos as often as you can!
🌞Omega-3 Fatty Acids come into play as well! Does that surprise you? They help maintain our skin’s integrity and aid in a proper inflammatory response. In other words, they help our body cope with a little too much time in the sun. Walnuts, salmon, cod liver oil, flax, hemp and chia seeds are all loaded with Omega-3’s.
I try to get a handful of walnuts in my diet daily, but I ALWAYS take my OmegaGize3 (item #3097)!
🌞Foods high in beta carotene are also important. Beta carotene converts to Vitamin A in our body, and committing to a diet rich in carrots, dark leafy greens, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, cantaloupe, apricots, and red bell peppers over time (10 weeks according to one study) provides natural sunscreen protection.
🌞Green Tea contains a flavanol known as EGCG
(epigallocatechin gallate) which has been found to help reduce skin damage from UVA light and also help support healthy collagen (the protein responsible for our skin’s elasticity).
Young Living’s organic Vanilla Lemongrass green Tea (item # 32205) is just as good iced as it is hot. ☕️ Organic tea (and coffee) is so very important because the traditional non-organic processing methods are loaded with ☠️toxins.
🌿Young Living does have an amazing sunscreen (SPF 50 item #24137) that is toxin free (most on the market are loaded with unhealthy ingredients)…. So this was a welcome addition in our home when it became available a few years back!

Enjoy that sunshine friends! 🌞It’s one of God’s ways of smiling on us and it’s an absolutely free health and wellness tool we all have access to.
Be well!
