Health Clues from Your Liver(Gall Bladder)

Liz James · June 22, 2021 ·

The gallbladder is a literal bountiful bag of body clues!  It’s a small pouch that sits just under the liver, located in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen. It’s a little bag with a big responsibility! 💪

The gallbladder stores and concentrates bile produced by the liver. Bile digests fat and helps the body absorb fat-soluble vitamins (A,D,E & K) and fatty acids (think omega 3/ 6’s). It becomes extremely important to take a quality Omega-3 supplement if your gallbladder is MIA.  #Omegagize3forthewin.

Additionally, without a gallbladder, vitamins A,D,E &K become poorly absorbed from foods, and it is prudent to supplement with these vitamins as well. #MasterFormulaandSuperDforsupport  A well functioning gallbladder also helps the body excrete fats and fat soluble toxins. Fat soluble toxins☠ are sadly found in common household cleaners, personal care products, food, beverages, and even in cosmetics. To keep the ☠toxin load☠ down, make the most of your Thieves Household Cleaner (All things Thieves really! ), the wonderful personal care products Young Living has available for us, and the Savvy Minerals cosmetic line. There are hundreds of fat soluble toxins to avoid, and Young Living has done the hard work so that our bodies may enjoy a decreased toxic burden!

Gallbladder removal is THE most common surgery in North America. Gallbladder  symptoms (clues🔎) don’t evolve overnight…..there are years of foundational “sludge”  building up beforehand that may have been unintentionally ignored.  Most people are under the impression that if the gallbladder is removed, the pain will stop. While the immediate pain will likely go away, it will ultimately be replaced with a different set of pain points and problems.

People without a gallbladder become even more prone to digestive problems. If the offending diet and lifestyle is not altered, gallstones can still occur..…. they just stay in the liver.. Risk of developing fatty liver dis-ease is also greater in people without a gallbladder. In the absence of a gallbladder, bile slowly trickles into the intestines and never becomes concentrated enough to digest fats well. Often this results in diarrhea, nausea, bloating and heartburn-like symptoms.

If your detective gears are moving, you’ll have just read a wealth of clues 🔎for those people who may be missing their gallbladder and are still struggling. Here’s the biggest clue of all…. A gallbladder’s health is dependent upon the liver’s health….. So while the gallbladder became the “fall guy”, the liver was (and still is!) actually screaming for some support. A poorly functioning liver will produce sludgy bile. That’s as gross as it sounds. Sludgy bile eventually will eventually cause stones or, like a sewer pipe, a significant clog.

A compromised diet is at the heart of most gallbladder dysfunction:
💥Having a diet high in sugar and high fructose corn syrup (learn to look at labels… sugar and HFCS hide everywhere!)
💥Having a diet high in “modern” grains. This leads to fatty liver (we will talk about that soon), which will eventually lead to an unhealthy gallbladder too. There is some pretty compelling research linking gluten intolerance to gallstones. This is another reason Gary was so adamant about getting us our YL Einkorn products!
💥Having a diet high in “bad fats”. (think processed food/ “fast” food)

Other clues indicating an unhappy gallbladder is on the horizon:
🔎Regular use of Aspirin (we have many natural alternatives friends ….. Use them!)
🔎An existing or suspected diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome, SIBO, or candida overgrowth. Remember, the liver is an important part of the digestive system, and all parts are ultimately affected when one part begins to falter. The majority of people with gallbladder dysfunction have had poor digestive health for years and have not modified their diet and added supportive digestive enzymes (Essentialzyme-4!) and probiotics.
🔎Gout flare ups
🔎Seemingly common bouts of “food poisoning”. This is a sign of weakened bile flow. Strong bile flow kills pathogens and assists in a healthy and harmonious digestive tract.
🔎Common “strep” infections. (“common” is a relative term…. In this case, even once a year would be considered common)
🔎“Hot flashes”. We often only think of this clue as hormonal, but there is a correlation between a toxic liver and a gallbladder that can’t keep up with eliminating the toxins.
🔎A mysterious “come and go” chronic pain  in the abdomen or rib cage area. (The gallbladder doesn’t usually have gallstones at this point, it has toxic sludge that has become so heavy the gallbladder actually droops from its original position putting pressure on some very sensitive nerves around the liver. The “drooping” also causes a pulling on the neck of the gallbladder)
🔎Chronic constipation and “slow GI” transit time.

The gallbladder really is the “canary in the coalmine” when it comes to liver health. Ultimately….. If the liver ain’t happy, the whole body ain’t gonna be happy eventually either.
Consider starting and ending your day drinking a glass of water with a few drops of YL lemon or lime vitality oils to support “decongesting” lymphatic tissue. Other ways to support healthy lymphatic drainage include lymphatic massage, dry brushing, exercise, eating fresh fruits and leafy greens, drinking plenty of water, deep breathing exercises on the regular, avoiding “reloading” with toxins, and wearing loose clothing that is not binding.

These health clues are sooooo important friends. There’s no sense crying over spilt milk or a missing gallbladder! Work with what ‘cha got! 😘  You didn’t know. But now you do, and the good news is you now know you’ve got some serious but entirely doable work to give your liver its best life, so that you can lead your best life too! And thank the good Lord (and Young Living) we’ve got the tools to do it!

June Gifts from Young Living

Liz James · June 1, 2021 ·

Good morning and Happy June! Can you believe we are already almost half way thru 2021? 😍
I’m excited to see these June freebies personally, and here’s why…
300 PV tier
Retail value: $185.53
Peace & Calming essential oil blend, 15 ml
• We just added two new large rescue pups (teenagers really) to our farm crew, which changes the pack dynamics on our farm. ALWAYS, the goal is to have zero skirmishes within our dog pack of 6, so we use ALL the tools and skillsets to make sure this doesn’t happen. Diffusing Peace & Calming friends…. and applying to to their collars and ears. I’ve been told this works nicely on kiddos too 😍, and I know it works well on we adults too!
The blue tansy in Peace and Calming just makes everything better! Hint: blue oils are great for skin and emotions!
250 PV tier
Retail value: $91.78
Aroma Siez essential oil blend, 15 ml
• When it’s not raining (we’ve had a FLOOD here…. like almost nonstop for a month), I’m out in the garden pulling weeds like a crazy woman. 👩‍🌾 If you’ve ever pulled weeds by hand for 4 hours straight, you’ll know how important Aroma Siez is to your muscles!
190 PV tier
Retail value: $47.37
Citronella essential oil, 15 ml
We’ve been using those nontoxic mosquito dunks like crazy in an effort to keep the mosquito population down out here, but frankly, there aren’t enough mosquito dunks in the world to address the amount of standing water we’ve had, so the mosquitos are literally taking over the universe (in our area anyway). Solution? Become a walking diffuser!
Make a DIY outdoor spray blend of Citronella with oils like Rosemary, Tea Tree, Myrtle, Clove, or Lemongrass and spritz it on clothing as needed.
(pro tip: I also put a couple of drops of lemongrass vitality in a capsule and take it twice a day especially during summer months)
You could also add a drop or two of Citronella to your YL Sunscreen and solve two problems at once with application!
Bonus Essential Rewards: Eucalyptus Globulus essential oil, 15 ml
Lung health! …… do your research friends.  Good stuff!
• I totally equate Eucalyptus (and rosemary and lavender) with a spa day (a rare rare luxury)…… make yourself a mixture of these three and add to your dryer balls or make a spritz bottle for your pillow. You’ll breathe easier and life will feel that much better wrapped in healthy goodness!
And as always…… free shipping with any order greater than 100 PV.
Have a beautiful day!!

Health Clues in Your Teeth – part 3

Liz James · May 3, 2021 ·

Do you utilize vitaflex/reflexology points on your hands, feet, and even ears👂 when you apply essential oils? Do you have an excellent massage therapist who is able to make you feel better both physically and emotionally after a nice long appointment? Have you ever employed the powerful tool of acupuncture or acupuncture point based therapy as a means of retaining or regaining health or function?

Or, are you just not sure “those things” are real? As a 100% science minded health professional, I needed some strong evidence….. After all, these applications are not taught in the Western medicine education system. So, as any good doubting Thomas would do, I set out not to disprove what I didn’t understand….. but to dig for validation and information of what was confounding me! Never discount something because it doesn’t make sense to you or doesn’t fit the mold you’ve been taught!  Dig until you find the truth. My own digging has led me through many books, conferences, professional journal articles, and pubmed…. and through these…. Hard facts and data.

We are energetic beings. Energy⚡️ is measured by the rate of oscillation of an electrical current (measured in  hertz/ Hz). The rate of this oscillation of current is called frequency. EEG’s and EKG’s are measuring the frequency of the brain and heart respectively. Those are only two organs….. The entire body is one big energy frequency machine! ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️

Acupuncture is based on 14 energetic meridians in the body. (For ease of discussion, I will refer to them as rivers)  If one of those energy “rivers” (meridians) becomes stagnant, damaged or “clogged”, the entire “river” will be affected. Over time, that damaged “river” flow will cause pain, dis-ease or dysfunction within the parts of the body it runs through. As that meridian becomes more damaged, it will begin to affect other meridian functions too.

The role teeth play within a body’s energy circuits is one of the most important clues I will write about. This is where physics meets biology! Our teeth are crystalline structures, and they act as a circuit breaker for the meridians in our body. A decayed tooth or a root canal (which actually leaves residual decay behind even when patched up) acts as a resistor on the specific electrical circuit, and eventually, this will show up as pain, dysfunction, or illness somewhere else in the body along the same meridian (river). Interestingly, over 90% of malignancies are associated with a root canal or decayed tooth on the same meridian.

The easiest way to utilize teeth as clues for both present and future health concerns is to reference a chart. ( I will include an example of one below this article).I often use teeth as a clue to “root cause” and “root prevention”.  Pun intended!

Let’s take my 1st upper molar as an example. If I had a root canal or untended cavity in that particular tooth,  over time, the frequency would drop within the stomach meridian of my body. Because I know my frequency is now prone to dropping in the stomach meridian, I would pay special attention to, and support all of the corresponding organs and tissues in an effort to prevent future dis-ease and dysfunction. (Refer to the chart )

* I would watch my thyroid numbers closely thru comprehensive annual (if not more frequent) thyroid labwork, and support my thyroid function as needed with Young Living’s Thyromin capsules and/or Endoflex essential oil blend.

* I would also make sure my liver, pancreas  and stomach had the tools they needed to function efficiently. Digestive enzymes (Detoxzyme or EssentialZymes-4 are my two favorites), and Juvatone capsules for liver support on the regular!

* I’d work to keep my body well hydrated, exercise, and avoid medication that is particularly hard on the kidneys (ex: Ibuprofen  and other NSAIDS).

* I’d know that my weakest point on my spine was potentially going to be where the thoracic vertebrae meets the lumbar portion of the spine, and I would work to keep it strong, healthy, and flexible thru exercise focusing on core strength and flexibility.

* I’d know that my jaw and knee joints would be things to keep an eye on and support accordingly to prevent injury.

* I’d know that my trunk muscles needed extra focus at the gym in terms of muscle groupings. #legday #BLMandSulfurzymeforthewin

* I’d want to support my maxillary sinus in a healthy way so that I don’t become prone to sinus infections. I would do this by diffusing all our healthy “breathing oils” and by using my home made (amazing!!!) nasal spray regularly.

All of these body parts I just mentioned are tied to the stomach meridian in the body, and they are going to need a little extra TLC to keep them healthy since the tooth itself is now working against the body.

Forewarned is forearmed, right?!?  Using the health of specific teeth to determine how best to support your body is an easy and excellent way to hopefully sidestep potential issues elsewhere in your body in the future!

If you’d like to know more about teeth and their relationship to our health, here are some excellent book 📚 resources (note that all of the authors are either doctors or dentists who have also done their additional research to learn the truth!!):

Tools for Bad Health

Liz James · October 16, 2020 ·

There will never be a single tool to maintain and improve health, just like you wouldn’t use a screwdriver when you really need a hammer. I stretch regularly, use my Young Living essential oils, Dolphin MPS myself when I can…. but occasionally, I can still feel when I’m out of alignment…. and when that happens, it’s not just a structural snafu…. nerves can be pinched, and organs can start malfunctioning. Not coincidentally, the longer I felt my neck out of whack, congestion had started developing in my head and throat.😕
Yesterday, I made time to get adjusted by my chiropractor (thank you Newmyer Chiro in McKinney!) and could literally feel the congestion fade away once my neck and shoulders were back where they were supposed to be.
I tend to carry stress (and 50lb bags of animal feed!) on my shoulders, so it’s no surprise.
I feel much more balanced and healthier this morning!
What’s an “out of the box” tool you use with great results?

Winter Rest – part 2

Liz James · January 13, 2020 ·

(Apologies for taking so long to get part II of my adrenal reset post out…. I’ve been taking my own advice and have been in Hawaii on a much needed business / vacation / relaxation time! 😉) #ThanksYL

I wrapped up talking about living a fear based lifestyle and how hard that is on the kidneys and adrenals. Fear can creep in to our life in insidious ways….. ways that we typically don’t even recognize as a fear. What may that look like in any of our lives?…. and how can we learn to eliminate it?

🔥Trauma: In my own educational and healing journey, I’ve learned a great deal about the damaging effects of trauma based emotions. #yowza! It’s a fascinating topic and frankly, if more people actually understood it, it would change the trajectory of both their life and their health. Trauma goes beyond the brain teaches our body (at a cellular level) that it must constantly be on guard and vigilant. This keeps us in a constant state of low grade “fight or flight” which I promise will not end well if not addressed. We MUST learn to slowly unwind, release your fear, find balance, and begin to heal.
👉 (If you’d like detailed help, please book a private session)

🔥Expectations: Do you feel like the earth may cease to spin on its axis if you don’t meet your own personal expectations or other’s expectations of you?
I exaggerated that slightly 😉, but truly…. a lot of stress comes from believing that everyone depends on you. It’s lovely to feel needed…. but often, these are personal beliefs we heap onto our own shoulders, and not reality. At least for these winter months….. give it a trial run and step back a little from your own expectations and see if the world doesn’t keep on spinning😘. #sayingthisinlovefriends

🔥With expectations comes Responsibility…. Lord have mercy, who doesn’t have this?…. fianancial burdens, high stress work environments (don’t get me started on that! Pharmacists were #3 in the suicide category for many years😳), family stressors…. the “sandwich generation” who takes care of both their kids AND their parents are particularly vulnerable.
Honestly, there’s not always a great way to get out from under true responsibilities, but hopefully the tips below 👇will help decrease the stress / fear load on your adrenals.

Winter Rest is important….. vital really… to health. That said, the following tips can and should be used year round to maintain optimal health:
🌸 Sleep! If your body is calling for it….. do it! During the winter, make an effort to get an extra hour of sleep each night. (If sleep evades you, again…. feel free to private message me for some non drug tips and tricks). Our body does its greatest healing during deep sleep.
🌸Unplug. Next to sleep, I think this is perhaps the most important and simplest way to rest. If you were born before 1990 (just typing this makes me feel kinda old😂), you’ll remember that there WAS life without cell phones and internet and we actually survived quite well. In fact…. we were a far healthier bunch of people than we are now as we are literally triggered each time our device dings or vibrates!
🌸 Stay in and don’t allow yourself to get caught up in the rat race. Read a book, nap, or allow yourself time outside in nature to get grounded and recharged. Grounding is vital to our balance and well being.
🌸Say No. For some of us, this is a word that is underused to our own detriment. Once I learned to do this…. saying no gracefully, I realized how freeing it was. Life is too short to say yes to everything everyone asks of you. It is a learned skill….. but one you’ll find of great value! #metoo
🌸Take a spa day or at least a “spa hour”…. even if it’s at home. Epsom salt baths with some calming therapeutic grade oils (like they do at the fancy places!) can be easily done at home at a fraction of the price. It will go a long way towards resetting your adrenals and cortisol levels. This isn’t selfish time… it’s called self care. You can’t care for others well if you yourself are not well😘.
🌸Yoga, gentle stretching, and acupuncture or acupressure are all excellent aids for adrenal resets.
🌸Foods that help with adrenal resets: walnuts, cashews, clove, ginger, fish, shellfish, eggs (organic free range is best!), cranberries, blueberries, apples, spinach, cauliflower, cabbage, and asparagus
🌸Adaptogenic herbs (plants that support the body’s ability to accomodate varying physical and emotional stresses):
🌿Ashwagandha- this is an incredible herb for a variety of reasons, but for the topic at hand… it is very helpful in supporting healthy cortisol levels. Do a little Google search to learn more about this oddly named herb. My two favorite supplements that contain Ashwagandha are called Endogize (typically for women) and Powergize (typically for men).
🌿Siberian Ginseng
🌿Rhodiola
🌿Curcumin
Not herbal, but Vitamin D3☀️ (levels can drop significantly in the winter… get bloodwork to confirm. If you do not have insurance or a doctor, I can help you get inexpensive labwork done).
Omega 3 Fish oil🐟 … but be warned…. much of what is available for sale is actually rancid and will only make the situation worse…. so best advice I would give you is to really know your supplement company well.😉
I hope this helps. I believe strongly that God gives us our experiences in life, good and bad, so that we can learn from them in order that we may use our life as a testimony and a map to help others. #payitforward
Looking back, I can see several points in my life where, by pushing myself beyond what the body is able to handle on a chronic stress daily basis , I could have very easily ended up a hot mess healthwise. I hear this phrase all the time…. “I’m not sure what happened. I was fine, and then all of a sudden I had all these health problems”. See, here’s the deal. The body is masterful at “running from the lion “…. but we can’t run forever. And when “the lion” finally catches you….it doesn’t just take a nibble.
Hugs and love, Liz
(I’m gonna go have a day on the beach now and continue my reset!☀️)
