Improve Cognitive Performance – Aromatherapy

Liz James · November 11, 2020 ·

Wow! Such an interesting 4 minute video and worth the listen. Dr. Michael Greger MD is a favorite of mine, and this is his video.

Topic?……. Improving cognitive performance using aromatherapy,  💖 especially in cases of neurodegenerative dis-ease.

I stepped back from corporate pharmacy and into the roots (& flowers 🌹, leaves🌿, and trees🌳 😉 ) of pharmacognosy because of information (like this) which remains largely unrecognized by mainstream medicine….. literal golden nuggets of self care…. which allow us improved quality of life, increased autonomy, and educated self care.

How many of you have seen a cognitively impaired patient who was so medicated that they were almost “zombi-fied”?

Roughly 50% of people with dementia experience behavioral or psychological symptoms that doctors often ‘chemically restrain’ by way of drugs that are often well known for their increased morbidity and mortality risks in the elderly…. not to mention dulling them cognitively even more. #riskvsbenefitfail

👆 Why?….. because it’s easier to prescribe a drug than it is to offer non-pharmacological alternatives. To be fair, few western medicine health care workers are trained in aromatherapy, nor have they taken the time to learn on their own.  #notfundedbyBigPharma

Final tidbit….. I don’t want to spill all the beans here…. Dr. Greger speaks of Lemon Balm. Friends, that is also known as “Melissa”…… grown on our Young Living Farm in St. Marie’s, Idaho.
Go. Learn. Apply your knowledge! Help a friend or loved one out and share what you know and may already have in your possession.

Fighting the Fear Frequency

Liz James · October 20, 2020 ·

This past weekend, I co-hosted our 3rd annual Guns ‘n Poses (yoga, health and wellness topics, and firearms instruction) event for our YL family. #memberperks Personal self care empowerment comes in many forms and it is something I deeply truly love about the Young Living lifestyle…..thru the application of what we learn from one another, we become more adept at being our own CEO of the temple that is our body.

My teaching topic for the event was frequency and how it relates to fear and how to raise your own frequency should you find it faltering. Fear is one of the lowest frequency emotions.

Here are a few tidbits to chew on:
⚡️ Frequency is a term that measures electricity. It’s not hoo hoo stuff… it’s physics and biology. If you’ve ever had an EEG or EKG the frequency of your heart or brain has been measured.
⚡️ Certain emotions drive the body’s frequency up or down. High frequency emotions are Joy, Freedom, Love, Empowerment, Happiness, Enthusiasm (and many more). 😃
Low frequency emotions include worry, frustration, doubt, anger, guilt, and others……. including fear. 😱Fear (chronic or acute) is one of the most damaging of all emotions….. especially the chronic variety.
⚡️ Chronic fear is incredibly stressful to the body, and has been found to be equivalent to a pack of cigarettes a day habit…. not a place any of us wants our body to be in. Chronic fear is also quite hard on the immune system.
The Bible says…. over 365 times…. “fear not.” We are to have a spirit of power, of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Tim 1:7) This is not simply a suggestion, it’s also a health tip. 😉 We need to strive to live within  the higher frequency emotions and feelings so that we may retain a sound and strong mind and body.
Lord knows this is something we need to be sharing far and wide right now! #2020hasbeenahotmess

Quick tips on raising your body’s frequency:
⚡️ Work on getting your body more alkaline. (Fear and an acidic body tend to go hand in hand). Low voltage/frequency = low pH
Have you tried Alkalime (YL item #3199) ? It works to settle the belly, but it also gently raises the body’s pH.
⚡️ Positive thoughts drive positive emotions. Be kind, especially to yourself. We often tend to be our own worst critic. Words are powerful. Speak to yourself in love. Look into podcasts by Dr. Caroline Leaf if this is a struggle.
⚡️ Exercise! Grab your bottle of Motivation essential oil and use it if exercise is hard for you. The more you do it, the easier it will become. (promise!!)
⚡️  Ditch processed foods and focus on eating foods that have a positive electrical charge… Living whole foods!
⚡️  Make sure you are continuing to remove toxins from your lifestyle. Toxins are frequency zappers! We all have access to the cleanest products on the planet in the way of Thieves Household cleaner, our YL body and skin care products…. not to mention our Savvy Minerals (standard cosmetics are LOADED with toxins).
⚡️ Make sure you spend a little time in nature every single day, and disconnect when you are doing so (disconnect regularly even if you cannot get outside) ! (Leave your phone or laptop indoors while you enjoy the gifts God gave us). Electrically speaking, this is called “grounding”.
⚡️ High frequency oils are also very very helpful. Idaho Blue Spruce, Sacred Mountain, Rose, Joy, Forgiveness, Frankincense, Gentle Baby and Helichrysum are all in the higher frequency list. Apply topically or diffuse.  Diffusing any of these may be helpful in group situations too. (I call this my stealth happiness tool in group settings)

We are blessed to have all these tools available, making ourselves and our sphere of influence a less stressful, fear reduced environment.
What’s your “go to” in times of high stress or fear? I utilize all of the above depending on the situation, but my “go to” oils are Stress Away, Sacred Mountain, and Frankincense.

How Essential Oils Are Made

Liz James · August 14, 2020 ·

Have you been to a Young Living farm? If so, this will just be a refresher for you.😉 The process of extracting our pure essential oils ain’t for wussies or for those who prefer to cut corners to make extra $$ for their pockets at the expense of those who buy them.

Next time you are tempted to save a buck, know that precious few companies even come close to protecting, cultivating, harvesting, and distilling essential oils in a manner that preserves their purity and therapeutic properties. Just ask anyone whose life has been changed by YLEO”s! 💖🙏🌿💧

Rabbit Trail – Exosomes

Liz James · July 30, 2020 ·

Confession time: Occasionally I end up down rabbit holes. #thatprobablydoesntsurpriseyou 😁 We’ve certainly had plenty of rabbits and plenty of holes in 2020! Rabbit holes are not a bad thing tho, if you come out learning something new in the process. #neverquitlearning

I have heard the term “exosome” bandied around recently, and it has intrigued me for a number of reasons. I finally took the time over the last few days to learn more about these little extracellular organelles and the part they play in our lives. It’s been many years since I was in college, and since exosomes were discovered while I was in pharmacy school… well, that’s probably why they weren’t a part of the curriculum way back in the 80’s! So, I’m going to unpack what I’ve learned as briefly as possible and will let you draw your own conclusions.

*What are exosomes?

👉They are little packets of debris (mainly proteins, lipids, toxins, and RNA fragments) that are encapsulated and released from our cells. From there, they float around in the space between our cells and then either bind to other cells or are eliminated by the body. If they bind to other cells, they become heroes or villains depending on what they are carrying, as they then pass information along to the “receiver” cells.

In a HEALTHY body, exosomes are:
👉A critical component to our immune system (having both immunosuppressive and immuno-activating roles).

👉 Neuroprotective (especially of the brain) AND play a part in normal cellular communication within the central nervous system.

👉Supportive of cardiovascular function

👉A type of trash service for our body (if our cells didn’t have this feature, they would die) necessary to keep a happy balance within our cells.

😵In an UNHEALTHY body, exosomes can spread rogue information, and in doing so, they become part of disease pathology.

👉Some pathogens (a bacteria, virus, or other microorganism that can cause a body to malfunction) take advantage of exosomes to infect other host cells and/or evade immune response.

👉Diseases found to have an “exosome gone bad” component include neurodegenerative diseases (including Alzheimer’s and Parkinsons), certain liver diseases, heart failure, and many cancers.

*Interestingly, exosomes are the same size as viruses and have the ability to cross the blood brain barrier. For this reason, exosomes are being looked at as drug delivery systems. Hero or villain? You decide.

*Also of interest… it is the contents of the exosome that the ‘rona PCR testing measures. (That’s another story for another day as the PCR testing was never designed to do what it’s being asked to do).

So what causes exosomes to form? … in short, environmental threats to the body. They work in a positive way to help us adapt to environmental changes at a cellular level, but they can only do so much so fast. In those situations, what is meant for good becomes bad.

If exosomes transfer information from cell to cell, we need to make sure it has ample opportunity to transfer healthy information and not damaged goods.

There are some things we can control (and we should do so if we want to remain healthy). These little organelles are trying to do right by us!

☠️Toxic substances (pathogen debris, heavy metals, chemicals in processed foods, medications, environmental, household, or common skincare items that have toxic ingredients) lead to an increased trash payload within cells. Use your nontoxic products Young Living has available to you, eat “clean” organic food, and always keep risk versus benefit in mind when considering using something with a known toxin profile.
#alltheThieves

*Psychological Stress (chronic fear or anxiety being big ones) are also damaging at a cellular level. Prayer, meditation, yoga, regular outdoor activities, exercise can all be very helpful here and many of our essential oils support a healthy emotional body.

😷Cancer

☢️Radiation

*Infection (this is where pathogen debris comes in). This can largely be avoided with healthy habits that keep an immune system strong.

*Injury

*Immune Response

😧Chronic dis-ease

📡Electromagnetic Frequency (ie: electro-smog). Please review the many posts I’ve written about this! Do not underestimate the damage that EMF (especially 5G) can do. There are steps we can all take to minimize the damage done within us.

Knowledge is empowerment, but only if you use it.

Are we not wonderfully and powerfully made? 😘

C.S. Lewis convo

Liz James · May 30, 2020 ·

As a guest writer on Liz’s good medicine blog, I, Stephanie Gregory wanted to share what I learned from one of my favorite thinkers.  It is in the format of a conversation, which obviously is not exactly how it went down.

Stephanie : I love reading the work of CS Lewis. I’m listening to one of his books on audio with my 5 year old daughter now, and his writings always inspire me and cause me to reflect. So, I was curious… what fear gripped his world when he was alive? How did he recommend they handle it? After reading his essay, I replaced “coronavirus” with “the Atomic bomb” in his article to reveal his wise advice.

C.S. Lewis : “How are we to live in (a coronavirus) age?’ I am tempted to reply: ‘why, as you would have lived in the sixteenth century when the plague visited London almost every year, or as you would have lived in a Viking age when raiders from Scandinavia might land and cut your throat any night; or indeed, as you are already living in an age of cancer, an age of syphilis, an age of paralysis, and age of air raids, an age of railway accidents, an age of motor accidents.’ In other words, do not let us begin by exaggerating the novelty of our situation.”

Stephanie : Truly, this virus is an “unknown”, but there is really nothing new under the sun. All ages have experienced dangers. Did we think ourselves too brilliant to not die or suffer?

C.S. Lewis : “Believe me, dear sir or madam, you and all whom you love were already sentenced to death before (this coronavirus) was invented: and quite a high percentage of us were going to die in unpleasant ways.”
“The first action to be taken is to pull ourselves together.”

Stephanie : OK -remain calm and don’t panic. Pull out “Stress Away” essential oil blend and inhale deeply.🌳 It will help calm the brain and slow down our racing thoughts.

C.S. Lewis : “If we are all going to be destroyed by (this coronavirus), let that (virus) when it comes find us doing sensible and human things-praying, working, teaching, reading, listening to music, bathing the children, playing tennis, chatting to our friends over a pint and a game of darts-not huddled together like frightened sheep and thinking about (this coronavirus). They may break our bodies(a microbe can do that) but they need not dominate our minds.”

Stephanie : Use this time to grow! We are going through this whether we like it or not. How we respond to it is up to us.  Peppermint essential oil will help clarify what this looks like for you!
Take time to be quiet and rest. Here is our chance to reevaluate our priorities and take time to think. Take deep breaths and quietly ponder what matters most to us. I’m thinking frankincense here.
Get to know the people that live in our homes or neighborhoods. Social distancing does not have to mean social isolation. Sharing a meal together or just hanging out is an important way to support one another, especially when going through a new hardship. Incorporate lemon 🍋 essential oil in diffusers, roll-ons, or drinks to lighten moods.

CS Lewis suggests that some may panic and kill themselves, while others may decide to live it up and enjoy life while they can. We can do better if we are intentional. If CS Lewis had the knowledge that we have about the power of essential oils, I believe he would have recommended Valor, “Courage” in a bottle.

CS Lewis : “We must resolutely train ourselves to feel that the survival of Man on this Earth, much more of our own nation or culture or class, is not worth having unless it can be had by honourable and merciful means.
The sacrifice is not so great as it seems. Nothing is more likely to destroy a species or a nation than a determination to survive at all costs. Those who care for something else more than civilization are the only people by whom civilization is at all likely to be preserved. Those who want Heaven most have served Earth best. Those who love Man less than God do most for Man.”

Stephanie :
Let us do more than just survive! Let us look beyond ourselves and make a difference in our world for eternity!
