More Intervention

Liz James · April 20, 2020 ·

With all of the recent scramble and scurry to develop a vaccine for the CV, I’ve been pretty deep into study mode.

๐Ÿ“š I uncovered quite a bit of interesting information today, and wanted to bring you a few interesting tidbits and thoughts over the next few days….

I find it fascinating that, during the daily White House press briefings, there is nearly always a bit of discussion which revolves around tried and true “older” therapies that warrant some attention. #Babysbeeninthecorner

Hydroxychloroquine is the star player, of course, during these discussions…. it’s the man made cousin of quinine… which comes from the bark of the cinchona tree.

Pharmacognosy (the study of plants ๐ŸŒฟ with a medicinal purpose) is tremendously important. Really, it’s where the roots of pharmacy lie. The problem is that natural healing agents cannot be patented (as a rule), so there is no large money to be had by Big Pharma in pursuing treatments derived solely from plants.  #BigPharmabelievesinprofitbeforepurpose

Quinine was banned as an “Over The Counter” (OTC) supplement in the 90’s because it was deemed “dangerous”, despite the fact that it has been around for, well…. as long as there have been cinchona trees ๐Ÿ˜‰.

As more and more information is revealed about hydroxychloroquine (and quinine) , it appears there are more studies (deeply buried) suggesting other beneficial uses too. Fascinating stuff!… especially when you dig beyond the superficial.#dontbeafraidtodig

I’m hopeful that this pandemic will bring more of these uses to light and perhaps bring relief to some who have fairly significant disease states.

Hydroxychloroquine is not a drug without potential for harm, but certainly, given the pandemic situation, its benefits outweigh the risk for short term use, particularly for those whose lives depend on it.

To be clear, I’m not a fan of using medications as a crutch when self intervention could hold the cure (I’m not talking about CV here). However, sometimes medications can be used as a springboard for serious self intervention.

What does self intervention mean?  We (us… all of us) are the ultimate responsible ones for our health… not our spouse, not our doctor, not our government. Self intervention is pretty simple…. it means caring enough about oneself to care FOR oneself:

Has diet been modified and improved upon to eliminate processed and / or non organic foods as well as any foods that may be triggers for poor health?

๐Ÿ’ช Is regular and correct exercise being implemented as a regular routine?

 Is stress being well managed?

โ˜ ๏ธ Have toxins been removed as much as possible from the lifestyle? This would include common housecleaning supplies, body care products and makeup that are typically loaded with them. It also includes limiting exposure to electromagnetic frequencies ๐Ÿ’ป.

All of this matters a great deal. Relying on a medication long term will nearly ALWAYS have consequences in the manner of side effects and developed deficiencies the drugs will inevitably cause.

Self care is much like prepping, but without all of the extra toilet paper rolls stashed in the closet. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I would argue that self care is a prepper’s most important project. Someone who has practiced self care for any length of time has a stronger immune system AND a level of confidence in their health that trumps fear. And THAT is perhaps the most important prepper’s tool of all…. the absence of fear.

More on this topic tomorrow.

Carry on my friends. Let’s make this quarantine time count for something positive. ๐Ÿ˜˜ Happy Sunday evening!

Spring Detox

Liz James · April 9, 2020 ·

Psst…… Hey there friend! I see you and your struggle between patience and frustration, perhaps even moving between anger at being cooped up and concern for the welfare of others. You are not alone in this. Hardly. Let’s chat a bit, shall we? ๐Ÿ˜˜

Springtime is the season of new and pent up energy bursting forth… it’s that way in nature, and we humans also have that tendency.

Spring cleaning….

Spring gardening…..

Western medicine doesn’t look that much at seasonal changes and how it affects your body (unless they are discussing seasonal allergies),…. but it is a core feature in Traditional Chinese Medicine. TCM looks at the physical (what can be seen), and also the energy (that which might be blocked or sluggish). Too much blocked energy, and something physical will usually result. Free flowing energy results in a higher body frequency which results in a happier healthier you! #highfrequencyrules #bethelight

AT THE HEART OF THE SPRING SEASON FOR TCM ARE THE LIVER AND GALLBLADDER. THESE TWO ORGANS PLAY A TERRIBLY IMPORTANT ROLE IN DETOXIFICATION OF OUR BODY. WINTER WAS A TIME FOR STORING RESERVES…. AND SPRING IS OUR TIME FOR SHEDDING THE ACCUMULATED TOXINS THRU INCREASED MOVEMENT THAT TENDS TO COME MORE NATURALLY WITH LONGER DAYLIGHT HOURS AND A SUN THAT BECKONS US OUTDOORS….. and we need to be doing this!

Grab a bottle of Juvaflex or Helichrysum, Lemon, Orange, Peppermint, Basil, Rosemary, Frankincense, or Geranium and apply over the liver or use the vitality versions and add a drop or two to your water.

Movement is critical to all parts of the body… but in the Spring season, it’s especially important to your liver. Exercise can be done anywhere… even in the comfort of your own home and neighborhood!

Grab a bottle of the amazing essential oil blend, Motivation, and go for a walk today. Your liver will thank you. Promise!ย
Failure to move makes blood sluggish, and accumulated toxins just don’t have the opportunity to leave the body as they should.

Signs that you’ve maybe not incorporated enough movement in your life recently?
frequent headaches
sluggish metabolism
frequent sighing
stress related digestive issues
chronic stress you can’t seem to shake
an odd feeling of a “lump in the throat “
irritability, anger, or frustration

The liver is also the organ that holds stress. One of the best ways to help your liver emotionally is to practice expressing your feelings. Express… and then let go of them. Don’t dwell on them unless they are positive ones! Holding on to your negative emotions ultimately will cause outward irritability, frustration and anger. One sign that you might be holding on to something is feeling like you have a lump in your throat (almost like the feeling you get in your throat right before you cry).

Remember…. different emotions live in different organs….. Anger is held in the liver. But for the “negative” emotion an organ holds, it also holds a good one too…. and we have the free choice to decide which one is going to be expressed. The “positive” emotion associated with the liver is compassion. ….. and ya’ll… I’m thinking right about now…. our world could use a little less anger and a little more compassion.

If you are wanting to get rid of anger, first have some compassion on yourself. These are stressful times and stress feeds anger. Instead, try looking for ways to express compassion to get your liver energy flowing:

Offer to go shopping for someone who needs to avoid people due to a health concern.

Clean out your bookshelves and donate books or games to an assisted living community library.

Offer to walk someone’s dog for them.

Share what you have with someone who has less than you do at this moment.

Call people to check on them… don’t forget about your extroverted friends. They are probably climbing their curtains right about now ๐Ÿ˜‰.

And finally….. seek out ways to nourish your liver… Lemon vitality oil in your water….. beets, broccoli, asparagus, and goji berries are all very helpful ways to support your liver.

Goji berries….. hmmm, where have we heard of those before? You probably have some in your house….. at least I HOPE you do. ๐Ÿ˜‰… Goji berries are also known as wolfberries… and the best, healthiest ones in the world can be found in our NingXia Red! Who knew?

Love your liver, and show some compassion to yourself and to others. We’re gonna make it thru this time alone together just fine. You’ll see. ๐Ÿ˜˜

EMF & 5G

Liz James · March 31, 2020 ·

โ€‹Hey friends! I had a great conversation with many of my personal friends today and decided to upload the convo over here. It’s really about EMF and 5G….. but it’s also a bit about the current virus situation too, and how EMF and 5G might be playing a part in it.
If you are someone who likes to put all the pieces together, you may find this information really interesting.

#7 Viruses 101

Liz James · March 16, 2020 ·

Post #7: Viruses 101…. What we Know to be True about Viruses (aka…. the care and feeding of a virus)

What?!? You don’t want to care and feed a virus of any sort?
Well, then….. let’s set the stage for what it might look like to create an inhospitable environment should a virus want to step foot into your personal space. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Please refer to Posts #5 & #6 for Action Points #1, #2, and #3 ’cause I’m just gonna dive right in to…….

Plan of Action #4: Virus infection is dependent upon our body’s pH.

To give you 10 seconds of science…. (ie: the how and why)…..  Viruses LOVE an acidic environment because they rely of acidification of the endosomal compartment to enact their warfare on our cells.

What is the proper pH of a healthy person? Ideally, we want our body’s pH to stay in the slightly alkaline range of 6.8-7.5 to help reduce the risk and lessen the severity of “bug” infestations.

In researching about pH and viruses, I found a study by the Royal Free Hospital and School of Medicine in London. That study concluded that raising the body’s pH to an Alkaline state increases the immune system’s ability to kill pathogens.

A healthy pH is directly related to a healthy oxygen supply in the body. Hmmmm……. is it any coincidence that our pH is also directly related to our body’s electrical frequency? Nope. #wearefearfullyandwonderfullymade

๐Ÿ‘‰TAKEAWAY: The lower the voltage of a body’s cell = the lower the body’s frequency = the lower the body’s pH = the more apt sickness is gonna occur.๐Ÿ‘ˆ

Here’s a cool thing… we don’t all have to run out and get test strips to test our pH, although you can certainly do that if you’d like. An easy and quick reference is dependent upon your emotions.

People with an alkaline pH tend to be predominately happy, joyful, calm, peaceful and are generally healthy. People with a more acidic pH tend to harbor emotions of anxiety, fear, anger, guilt, unforgiveness…..and they tend to catch lots of bugs and are prone to more body system dysfunctions.

(This is physics, biology, and neuropsychology all rolled up into one. Please refer back to my post on frequency and viruses if you need a refresher!)

Elevated levels of โ˜ ๏ธ carcinogens, toxins, exposure to indoor and outdoor pollution (this includes unhealthy foods and drinks) causes our cells to be unable to uptake oxygen efficiently. Indoor pollution (ie: what we deal with within our homes and offices) is actually more harmful than outdoor pollution.

Luckily, most of us are largely in control with, at least, our home indoor environment. As the gatekeepers, we have the authority to say what products we bring into our homes…… so it’s pretty important job if we are to stay slightly alkaline!

If you are new to the concept of removing toxins from your life, there’s no time like the present to start! (see previous posts in this series for pointers)
๐Ÿ›€ DETOX BATHS ARE AN EASY WAY TO START ALLOWING YOUR BODY TO RETURN TO A HEALTHY ALKALINE STATE.
HERE’S AN EASY DETOX BATH RECIPE:
3/4 CUP EPSOM SALTS
2 CUPS BAKING SODA
1/4 CUP BENTONITE CLAY
MIX TOGETHER, AND CONSIDER ADDING 8-10 DROPS OF ANY OF THE FOLLOWING ESSENTIAL OILS TO YOUR MIXTURE BEFORE ADDING TO YOUR BATH WATER: FRANKINCENSE, LEMON, ROMAN CHAMOMILE, LEDUM, GERANIUM, FENNEL, BLUE TANSY, AND/OR HELICHRYSUM.

Additionally, make sure your detox bath oils are good ones. I cannot speak for other oil brands in terms of purity, and only use Young Living essential oils myself because I know they are unadulterated and, thru their strict distillation methods, they are able to maintain the integrity of the constituents (the working parts) of the oils. #prettyisasprettydoes

Remember tho….. detoxing does no good if you don’t first stop exposing yourself to that which made you acidic to begin with. #kickthehouseholdtoxinsout #kicktheacidicemotionsouttoo

You can learn more about the farming, distillation, and testing practices Young Living exemplifies at http://seedtoseal.com/en.

Each oil bottle has an individual batch number that can be traced all the way back to the very seeds or acreage of trees that were planted and harvested. I wish our food supply did this! It gives me great peace of mind to know every effort is being made to keep the oils in their purest therapeutically active form.

Another way to encourage alkalinity, is a simple ingredient most of us probably have in our own homes: Baking Soda.

I’ll admit, baking soda in water doesn’t taste great, but we can all take and do things if it increases the odds of being healthy, right? I have opted to utilize a YL product called Alkalime when I feel like I’ve dipped my toes into the acidic side of the wellness pool. It tastes much better than baking soda in water, but I’ve used baking soda in a pinch.

Take a look at this historical piece of info regarding baking soda and illness that I found:๐Ÿ‘‡

“SODIUM BICARBโ€œThe proven value of Arm & Hammer Bicarbonate of Soda as a therapeutic agent is further evinced by the following evidence of a prominent physician named Dr. Volney S. Cheney, in a letter to the Church & Dwight Company:
โ€œIn 1918 and 1919 while fighting the โ€˜Fluโ€™ with the U. S. Public Health Service it was brought to my attention that rarely any one who had been thoroughly alkalinized with bicarbonate of soda contracted the disease, and those who did contract it, if alkalinized early, would invariably have mild attacks. I have since that time treated all cases of โ€˜Cold,โ€™ Influenza and LaGripe by first giving generous doses of Bicarbonate of Soda, and in many, many instances within 36 hours the symptoms would have entirely abated. Further, within my own household, before Womanโ€™s Clubs and Parent-Teachersโ€™ Associations, I have advocated the use of Bicarbonate of Soda as a preventive for โ€œColds,โ€ with the result that now many reports are coming in stating that those who took โ€œSodaโ€ were not affected, while nearly everyone around them had the โ€œFlu.โ€
Recommended dosages from the Arm and Hammer Company for colds and influenza back in 1925 were:
During the first day take six doses of half teaspoonful of Arm & Hammer Bicarbonate of Soda in glass of cool water, at about two hour intervals.
During the second day take four doses of half teaspoonful of Arm and Hammer Bicarbonate of Soda in glass of cool water, at the same intervals.
During the third day take two doses of half teaspoonful of Arm and Hammer Bicarbonate of Soda in glass of cool water morning and evening, and thereafter half teaspoonful in glass of cool water each morning until cold is cured.

This info โ˜๏ธ from Arm & Hammer historical archives is interesting, isn’t it? Our ancestors used some very simple things to stay well and healthy.  #anditworked

Plan of Action # 5 : Iodine
Iodine is absolutely critical to our immune system’s health, and approximately 97% of individuals in the USA are estimated to be deficient.

As long as we’re revisiting history, I stumbled across another interesting historical factoid about Iodine…. and I can’t recall ever learning it in pharmacy school. …. We definitely learned about iodine’s role in healthy thyroid function and that’s why I take a YL supplement ( Thyromin) that happens to have kelp (a natural source of iodine) in it to keep my thyroid happy….. but we’re talking about immune system function… not the thyroid today.

Interesting factoid: Did you know that it was once commonly recommended to mist areas with an iodine solution when there were viral outbreaks? I did a little perusing, and found a book (The International Record of Medicine and General Practice Clinics, Volume III circa 1920) that gave easy (but medically specific) instructions on how to do so… you can find it with a little digging on Google.

Then, I found this little jewel that was written more recently in 2009. Here is an excerpt (or you can read the full article also attached below)๐Ÿ‘‡:

“When iodine was suspended in a solution, viral inactivation occurred at dilutions of 1/1,000,000. Aerosols inactivated many viruses within 30 seconds or less. Watery solutions such as Lu- [7,8,12] golโ€™s are the superior germicides. “

I’m wondering why nobody is doing this in virus laden areas nowadays? It’s cheap, easy, and harmless (unless you are a virus!). #IthinkIknowtheanswertomyownquestion $$$

OK…..I’m off to feed my farm-ily and soak in some nature.

Stay tuned…. Post #8 in this series is rollin’ around in my noggin.

And remember…. these are musings and observations based on what I know to be true about biology, physics, and history. Please do not interpret any of the above as diagnosing, curing, or treating. You do you. I’ll continue to do me ๐Ÿ˜˜.

Stay healthy and be well!

#6 Viruses 101

Liz James · March 14, 2020 ·

Post #6 CV 101…… What we Know to be True about Viruses (aka…. the care and feeding of a virus).

What?!? You don’t want to care and feed a virus of any sort?

Well, then….. let’s set the stage for what it might look like to create an inhospitable environment should a virus want to step foot into your personal space. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Please refer to Post #5 for Action Points #1 & #2 ’cause I’m just gonna dive right in to…….

Plan of Action #3: Viruses (in general) cannot set up camp and unpack their “bug in” bags unless some things go awry in a body โ›บ๏ธ

If a virus enters into your personal space, one of the first things its going ask itself is this:

“Does this body have impaired glutathione production?”…. or is it gonna put up a fight?”

What the what? I thought we needed a strong immune system to fight off any viruses? Yes, that you do. But let’s unpeel a layer of that onion shall we?

Glutathione is something our body manufactures in every single one of its cells. It is often considered the most important cellular defense/ antioxidant that allows the body to prevent and fight infections and disease.

It also plays a crucial role in immune response, DNA repair, and the detoxing we must be doing constantly to ward off the damage done by medications, household (or other) chemicals, radiation, & our own metabolic wastes.

(Ya’ll… if we are laden with these wastes, chemicals, and broken DNA…. ain’t no way we will be able to effectively fight off bacteria, viruses, and destructive toxins that constantly assault our body).

HERE’S A BONUS IN THE DEAL, GLUTATHIONE IS ALSO THE PROTECTOR OF OUR IMMUNE CELLS. IT EFFECTIVELY FEEDS, PROTECTS, AND STRENGTHENS THE IMMUNE SYSTEM AND BOOSTS WHITE BLOOD CELL PRODUCTION (TO FIGHT INFECTION) …. …. THE QUALITY AND QUANTITY OF OUR LIVES IS LITERALLY DEPENDENT UPON GLUTATHIONE.

Normally, glutathione is recycled in the body…. except when the toxic load is too much of a burden, and/or the simple building blocks (which I will talk about in a bit) are lacking….And that is where trouble happens.๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Who might have impaired glutathione production? ….well… glad you asked!

๐Ÿ‘ต๐Ÿ‘ด The elderly

๐Ÿ’‰ The vaccine injured (another topic for another day)
๐Ÿ”ฅ Those with acidic internal environments (Remember, we need to be constantly striving for a slightly alkaline body pH…. all diseases…. including viruses, love an acidic environment)

๐Ÿšฌ Smokers

๐Ÿ”๐ŸŸ Those who are nutritionally deficient. Not to make light of the current virus situation, but 1 in 5 deaths in the USA is related to nutritional deficiencies…. that’s 11 million people a year friends. ๐Ÿ˜ณ #easilypreventable

๐Ÿ’Š๐Ÿ’Š Those who are on certain medications. Some meds deplete glutathione in the body…. and this acquired deficiency usually gets misdiagnosed as a side effect (and more medication is prescribed instead of correcting the deficiency …. heavy sigh)

If you are taking medications in any of the following drug classes, you’ll want to pay special attention to how to help improve glutathione production:
๐Ÿ’ŠAcid Blockers (ex: Nexium, Pepcid, Prilosec, Protonix etc)
๐Ÿ’ŠAnalgesics (ex: Acetaminophen or any product containing acetaminophen including Hydrocodone)
๐Ÿ’ŠAntacids that contain Aluminum (please, in Jesus name, do not knowingly consume Aluminum anyway! ๐Ÿ™
๐Ÿ’ŠCertain Antibiotics (including amoxicillin, zithromycin, cephalexin and related, doxycycline, quinolones, and sulfamethoxazole )
๐Ÿ’Š Anti-inflammatory meds: (NSAIDS, Steroids, and Aspirin)
๐Ÿ’Š Diuretics (ex: Furosemide and HCTZ)
๐Ÿ’Š Birth control and synthetic hormone replacement therapy
Ugggh. That was a long list ๐Ÿ˜”

How might we go about improving glutathione production, and in the process…. improve our immune function? #wehaveourways

We need a sulfur donor! Sulfur (not to be confused with the drug class “sulfa”) is required in our very DNA, and it’s a major building block needed for Glutathione production.
Common sulfur food sources include broccoli, kale, collards, cabbage, cauliflower, and watercress, and raw milk. Sadly, our soils (even on many organic farms) are depleted of minerals due to farming practices, so supplementation is a really good idea.

One of my most favorite YL supplements is called Sulfurzyme. As you might guess from its name…. it’s a rock star sulfur donor. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I take it for a variety of reasons that I’m not even gonna go into today, but cannot imagine my life without it, especially now that immune health is a pertinent topic these days.

๐ŸŠ Secondly, glutathione production needs a natural source of Vitamin C. (Synthetic abounds…. try to avoid it if you can…. it’s derived from GMO’d corn). #justsaynotoGMO

My favorite source of naturally sourced Vitamin C is Young Living’s Super C Chewables. It also comes in a non-chewable form, but I take them daily as a healthy “treat” ’cause they’re kinda tasty!

Thirdly, glutathione production needs a source of Magnesium. Natural sources are always best ( dark chocolate, avocados, nuts, beans, chickpeas, pun’kin seeds), but once again…. soils are depleted of minerals, so I supplement. Young Living does not yet stand in the gap for us for this supplement, but I’ve found a plant based brand I feel comfortable recommending: NATURELO Magnesium Glycinate.

๐Ÿ„ Finally…. selenium and Vitamin E… both are needed in small amounts. I take a supplement that has trace amounts of selenium, and that… in combination with mushrooms, grass fed beef, eggs, and oatmeal will do my body good.

Natural sources of Vitamin E include nuts, sunflower seeds, spinach and broccoli, so I’m pretty well covered there as well.

Other ways to boost glutathione production:
๐Ÿ‘‰exercise! #justdoit
๐Ÿ‘‰Vitamin B’s…. (folate, B6, & B12)
๐Ÿ‘‰Milk Thistle
๐Ÿ‘‰ Prayer & Meditation (would you believe that regular practice of these has been found to boost glutathione production by as much as 20%?) #Godwantsushealthy

Alrighty friends…. signing off for now. Stay tuned for Post #7… there’s lots more to unpack!

Holler at a friend who practices a Young Living healthy lifestyle (or at me) if this series has interested you and you’d like to learn more.

(and as always, this post is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or tell ya what to do in the case of a pandemic… I am not a doctor…. just a pharmacist who has been around the block a few times ๐Ÿ˜‰)

xoxo~ liz
