Readers Are Leaders

Liz James · July 9, 2024 ·

At any given moment since I was old enough to read, I’ve got at least one book I’m working on. For years tho, it’s usually 3 books at a time:
📚 one to educate myself (science or medical)
📚 one to elevate my growth spiritually and in leadership
📚 one to put myself to bed at night and help my brain shut down…. usually historical fiction.
This is what I’m working thru right now….
Brain Energy is a fascinating look at mental health and how this author (a psychiatrist) has determined that mental health disorders are largely caused by metabolic disorders and can usually be managed when the metabolic disorder is addressed and corrected. (I believe he has a strong case here, especially when stacked upon unresolved emotional trauma and either a lack of connection to God or experiencing spiritual oppression.)
The Book Woman’s Daughter is an excellent historical fiction read about a family in Kentucky who are persecuted because of a genetic defect. It is the sequel to the Book Woman of Troublesome Creek, so read that first! Parts of it are heartbreaking😭.
Rare Leadership is a book I dove into about a week ago and I’m loving it! I’ve never read a leadership book that ties strong theology with brain science. I have a few other friends I spoke about this book to, and they are reading it too…. we’ve decided to have an impromptu book study that we’re starting in a few weeks to talk about it. (If it’s something that might interest you, order a copy and let me know and I’ll let you know meeting times/ dates…. will be by ZOOM).
Have a great week! xoxo~ liz

Xylitol Risks

Liz James · July 7, 2024 ·

I have been wary about large (and regular) consumption of xylitol for quite some time simply because it may cause gut dysbiosis (when consumed in larger quantities) and dysbiosis never did anybody any favors 😬.
This was an interesting find by Dr. Laura Koniver, and I find it especially relevant given the number of people who are walking around with clotting disorders (some who know, but the vast majority have no clue) now because of the cov💉d jab side effects. I’ll post a link to the actual study in the comments.
Never stop learning, connecting the dots, and discerningly applying what is learned. Also remember that moderation is key. Xylitol in toothpaste does help prevent cavities and it’s a small amount, but chewing on gum that is sweetened with xylitol all day long or drinking drinks regularly that are sweetened with xylitol probably isn’t a great long-term plan. I’ll be keeping an eye out for more info on this topic.

Motion Sickness Hacks

Liz James · July 3, 2024 ·

Do you have any vacay vomiters🤢 in your house thanks to motion sickness?

Travel plans can quickly take a nose dive when you or someone else is feeling queasy with motion sickness. Here are YL Pro tips to tame the upchuck.

* Peppermint: ALL the Peppermint! Inhale straight from the bottle, dilute and apply over the chest, throat, shoulders and back of the neck, diffuse in the car if possible.

* AromaEase: Dilute this blend and apply it over the abdomen, along the back of the neck ideally starting before the motion sickness hits.

* DIY Tummy Tamer Tumbler:

* Fill a large glass/tumbler with water and ice

* Add 1 drop DiGize Vitality, 2-3 drops Lemon Vitality

* Option to add 1 drop Peppermint Vitality

* Drink as tolerated, ideally start before the motion sickness gets too bad

* DIY Motion Tamer Roll-on:

* 10-20 drops each Peppermint, Ginger, Frankincense

* Carrier of choice

* Roll over the abdomen liberally and frequently

* Hydration with minerals/electrolytes: Try to start the trip super hydrated and maintain that as much as possible throughout. Add Mineral Essence and Lemon Vitality to your water, bring the Lavender Lemonade Vitality Drops with you on a plane, or even mix in AminoWise to a bottle of water.

Young Living’s Free Gifts for July

Liz James · July 1, 2024 ·

Good morning friends! We are officially halfway through 2024…. can you believe it?? July’s gifts with purchase are perfect for our household because we use all three of these on a daily basis.
Freebies = I don’t have to buy them for the next few months! = Winning!!
All three of these… I’ve used each of them for years:
Lemongrass… 🌿this is a fantastic multipurpose oil. It is considered a “hot” oil, so do not use it on the skin without diluting it. I use it topically, internally, and diffused to support various body systems and body functions.
👉When I had a serious accident 9 years ago (and nearly lost my left foot), it was a key player in my topical “repair” blend to support healthy tendons (4 of which had been severed in the accident).
👉Biting bugs tend to dislike lemongrass. I take it internally and in doing so, I appear to be much less attractive to mosquitoes and other biters. (note that it took several days of taking internally before I became a walking diffuser for said bugs).
👉when taking internally, lemongrass is also helpful supporting healthy cholesterol and vascular health.
Stress Away……. One of my all time favorite and most used oils. Back when I was working as a retail pharmacist, this oil lived in my lab coat pocket and was used several times a day. There is science behind the oils in this bottle, and its regular use will help support a more comfortable autonomic nervous system balance (wouldn’t you rather live in a healthy balance of fight-flight freeze and rest relax and digest?…. our bodies are not designed to live in constant stress). Combine this oil with healthy self-care practices and you’ll notice the difference! ( And so will those around you 😉. Pro Tip…. do you spend a great deal of time around someone who might need this oil?…… start putting it on yourself and become a walking diffuser for them. See if you don’t notice the difference!)
Super C Chewables….. If you are taking Vitamin C and the ingredient says “ascorbic acid”…. take note. Ascorbic acid is largely made from GMO’d corn and it is not as bioavailable as truly natural (ie: doesn’t require a laboratory) vitamin C sources such as acerola, camu camu, and rose hips…. all of which are in Super C Chewables). There’s additional synergy in these yummy chewables with the addition of citrus oils!
Are you already using these products too? What’s your story?
Stay cool and Happy July! ~ liz
